    One of our outlet new M6600 came in and looked new, it had a bad touch panel. The tech mauled it during the panel replacement, back it went.

    The second "prevoiusly ordered new" M6600 from the outlet had a couple small blemishes, some minor wear on the hinge, but had a bad video card. The history online was still there, and it was around 2 months old. they should have labeled it as a refurb.

    The third M6600 was a refurb, actually better cosmetic condition than the new outlet above, but it had the flickering LG panel.

    So, check it over good when you get it. After dealing with half a dozen M6600, in new production and outlet, I'm getting to be an expert.

    Also check it is the laptop you ordered. Outlet has more than a few times sent me the wrong spec laptop. Right model but not the configuration I paid for.

    I'm thinking about setting up my M6600 HDD as follow:

    2.5" -> 750GB 7200RPM
    2.5" -> 750GB 7200RPM
    In RAID 1 since this data is critical.

    And use a 128GB mSATA SSD for boot.

    Q1- Is this a good setup?
    Q2- Will RAID 1 affect performance vs no RAID ? Will the write process takes twice as long compared to not using any RAID setup?

    There will be no performance loss with the RAID1 setup. It will perform as fast as the slower of the 2 drives.

    The downside to this setup is that in the BIOS, you have to select either RAID or AHCI. This means that in the past the mSATA SSD did not get the TRIM command. That is about to change. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver version 11.5 will add the TRIM command for drives in a RAID configuration.

    I am so jealous right now. I searched for weeks for IPS in the outlet and finally gave up just bought it new on Monday. I had 2 gift cards and used a $100 off coupon. Was $2346 out the door. Best of luck with it!

    The OEM Samsung 810 mSATA II SSD's are on eBay. Seach eBay for part# MZMPA128HMFU

    I picked one up last night for $170 shipped. There is a 64GB one up for under $100 too.

    So if I use my suggested setup the SSD wont get the TRIM command even if it's not in the RAID 1?

    Any idea when the 11.5 driver should be released? I guess in the meantime I could simply not set the RAID 1 to get the TRIM command...

    You would recommend the Samsung 810 refurbished over the MyDigitalSSD 128GB mSATA BulletProof ?

    I have not heard anything bad about the Samsung 810 mSATA drives, on the other hand, I been reading that MyDigitalSSD are having some probs with the Phison controller.

    I am not recommending anything. Just putting it out there that the OEM 810's are avail on eBay in case another M6600 owner was looking for one.

    m8900 or 3000m for a cad-3dstudio max-photoshop use ?

    2760qm and 2860qm are much different or only a little bit in rendering ecc ?

    3000M is probably better for CAD because of CUDA cores.

    2760qm or 2860qm are really not that different, performance should be like 2% or so.
