Have worked with 2 ips screens. One of which I work with every day. Zero flicker. Could it be a refresh rate issue? Maybe update drivers with a clean install?

Sorry I should clarify that it's not exactly a flickering issue... what happens is the screen just basically flashes (quickly goes blank) once whenever I restart or shutdown. I am currently going through a clean install and just noticed that the flashing on restart/shutdown started happening immediately after I installed the Dell Data Protection Application (DDPA_application_A02_R308585 driver). I am basically following the reinstall order suggested by the reimage manual.

Suggestions? Should I just try a reinstall again without DDP?

Thanks for the help. I have been browsing this thread for a long time (since well before purchasing my M6600) and it has been very helpful.

I am assuming this happens both when your plugged in and unplugged. I have the FirePro card and haven't noticed any flickering. I would go to nVidia's site and DL and install the latest drivers and see if that helps.

Yea I'm doing a reinstall. I am assuming there was something funny with my drivers and the install order. Hopefully this fixes the problem.

    Thanks for the input.

Like I mentioned before, you may want to boot into the bios & see if you get the same flash when you shutdown / restart. If you do there is likely nothing a reinstall / new driver is going to fix. It takes a lot less time to check than a full reinstall.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I have already checked that, and it only occurs when I restart/shutdown from Windows. The problem distinctly starts happening after I install the Dell Data Protection application. I've tried the latest NVIDIA driver (296.70) and the latest Dell video driver.

I'm not even really sure if its much of a problem, the screen just flashes or flickers once when I restart/shutdown. It seems to be fine otherwise though. I'm just annoyed because I took the time to reimage and wanted things perfect...

    Again, thanks for the input.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but after reinstalling I appear to have one unknown device...

The properties show it being a USB controller with location Port_#0005.Hub_#0003

Does anyone have thoughts on what that might be? All of the USB's ports seem to be working fine, I'm just wondering why device manager is telling me that USB controller isn't working properly.
