After a sad attempt by Dell support, I'm hoping someone in this thread can direct me to the monitor driver for my Dell M6600. It's the PremierColor IPS display with hardware id: MONITOR\LGD0310. Right now Device Manager reports it as Generic PnP Monitor.

Side question: is there a way to search a thread and not the entire site?

Love this forum and all the advice people are sharing.

    PremierColor software - CLICK HERE

Your display is an LG LP173WF3, which does not really need a formal driver.

Just a quick info byte for those thinking of getting an M6600 and want to know about battery life (sorry if it's been posted already).
My M6600 with Win7(64bit) and an IPS premiercolor display gets around 80 minutes on full battery while browsing internet via net cable. (cpu mostly idle, Hdd active, no apps except Firefox, screen brightness at 70%.

On a side-note, the IPS screen is difficult to calibrate because out of the box it has way too much red tones and the Catalyst Control centre software that comes with the AMD-Firepro 8900 is absolute Rubbish, even worse than the Nvidia control panel on my desktop! Gamma can only be adjusted in steps of 0.5 and only 1 preset/profile will save.

I installed the dell Premier-color app for managing color-spaces/gamut and that is really inflexible and difficult to manage :( It's sRGB mode is washed out and looks terrible (way worse than the default Catalyst sRGB profile, its color-flicks when (often) changing color-space when I click on apps is really off-putting and any profile except sRGB saturates the colors way too much (except in Photoshop).

Sorry if this all seems like complaints. It's not, I love my m6600 and wouldn't get any other laptop. the IPS screen is best ever. But I thought other people should know about these little headaches with color-management. (any help/hints on how to calibrate it more effeciently are much welcomed!)
    Cheers.

There is only one correct way to calibrate the color gamut - a hardware calibration.
Try it. You will not be disappointed and will forget about other ways.
    (IMO) ;)

    Best Regards,
    Alex.

PS. The cost of acceptable devices today are not high.

Actually, the Spyder 3 was not able to fully read the gamut of the IPS display. The Spyder 4 seems to be able to. The Spyder 3 will still do a good job.

The crazy thing is that with the IPS panel, if you run it in "default" mode in the PremierColor software or don't install any software, the panel has a native white point of around 6400K. The color correction applied to the panel is not huge. Out of the box this thing is awesome.

Check the ATI settings. Maybe that is where the reds are being boosted? Could also be that you are not used to seeing a wide gamut panel. Its kinda shocking to see REAL red and not orangish red.

Dunno if the question was answered before but is it possible to have 2 mSATA drives installed in the M6600? I mean, one in the mSATA slot and the second one in the WWAN slot?

Also, what's the purpose of the DMC slot? looks identical to Wifi.

No. mSATA and mPCI-e are actually different even though the physical slot connector is the same. Only the port labeled "SATA" supports mSATA (and you have to switch it on in the BIOS).

So, unlike the M4600 where you have to choose between the WWAN or mSata (they use the same slot), M6600 allows you to have both? Nice.

Also, what about the DMC port? Is it for another wifi card or mini ssd?

If I am not mistaken - this "Display Mini Card" slot.
Transmission of signals from the screen by radio to a monitor or TV.

    Best Regards,
    Alex.
