Thanks for the info guys, I didn't have much choice with my unit being a refurb but it's nice to know that the flexibility is there while saving a good amount of cash too!

    Hi Guys,

Just picked up a M6600 refurb.

Quick noob question, how can I check if it has an IPS panel?

Nothing is listed in the specs or order. Has a ATI FirePro M8900 so likely that it isn't? Any way to check for sure? Thanks!

Since you are asking - it's probably not an IPS :) You'd notice the difference immediately. 2 things - deeper colors and extreme viewing angles.

Just got the refurb M6600 today, it's in very good condition and looks new to be honest. I didn't need to change the wireless as it came with the Intel 6300 card to begin with, so I proceeded with the RAMs and CPU.

My friend gave me a piece of advice: It's too dangerous to go alone, take this."

And to be honest I see why he gave me this too as it's really handy for taking out the palmrest and certain connectors since it can be really tight at times. After venturing through the screws and panels this is the mobo of the dual core setup.

Along with the Quad Core CPU swap I removed the DIMM cover and proceeded to add 8GB RAM in there.

Patched everything together and all is now working smoothly. :)

Ah, used that to display the M6600 Service Manual as I went along! Bit ironic isn't it?
