I'm hoping you all can help me out. I just got my M6600 last Thursday and immediately put in a Samsung 830 256GB drive and reinstalled to it. I was quite disappointed in the driver offerings from the Dell support site. They used to be much better (I even had trouble finding the drivers for my ole m90). I wasn't even able to find all the drivers (until I found the CAB file that is hidden on the site)

Anyways, I've noticed that now sometimes when I wake my computer from sleep, windows shows up, the mouse moves, but clicking on any application (including right clicking on the desktop or clicking on the task bar) causes that application to freeze indefinitely. I've checked the event viewer, but there are no events at all from the time when I resume to sleep until I have to do the hard shutdown and start it back up.

Going to sleep and waking back up immediately sometimes works fine, but sometimes I get the same result.

Has anyone else had these problems? I'm thinking of going back to the original drive to see if it has something to do with the order I installed the drivers or the SSD itself.

    BTW,

I also installed 16gb of mushkin ram below the keyboard and kept the 2gb under the laptop. Does anyone think it could be the ram causing the issue?

It's most likely your SSD in combination with a controller/disk driver. Check if you have a free fall sensor driver installed and try removing it.

Would this be the driver: ST Micro Accelerometer?

Also, is this a common problem? I mean the laptop stays in the dock the whole time, so it's not like it's being moved. I don't even touch it to turn it on, I use the keyboard or mouse. I'm willing to give it a try though if that is the correct device (at which point I assume I should just disable it?)

Also what affect would have on the second standard HDD that I have, if any? Do I just lose the free fall protection?

Yes, that's the one. I'm not sure if that's the reason for those freezes, but I'd definitely give it a try and disable the driver.

I owe one of these, bought as a student computer.
What drivers are essential and required to install?

    Thanks Alex,

I know that link wasn't for me, but I'm going to reinstall the whole system tonight or tomorrow with that order. I'm downloading the drivers now. I fear that I might have missed some vital steps (like the system software) that I really needed to have installed. Hopefully this will fix my problem with the freezing after sleep, if not, I'll try the suggestion by Aikimox above.

I'll report back after a few days and testing.

    Sorry :(
Not very carefully read your posts...

In fact You can do not install anything.
Check the system can do without them.

However (for Win 7 x64), choose:

    It is desirable to set:
    1. Intel Chipset software.

    Network Devices:
    2. LAN adapter.
    3. WLAN (6300 or 6250 or 6205 Intel adapter)
    - or WLAN 1530 adapter
    - or WLAN 1501 adapter
    - or WiMAX Intel 6250 adapter
(It depends on which adapter you have installed).
    4. Bluetooth 375 module.

    Input:
    5. Multi-Touch Touchpad.
    6. N-Trig mTouch Digitizer - If it is set.

    7. USB 3.0 Driver.

    Video card:
    8. Nvidia Quadro driver
    - or AMD (ATI) FirePro driver,
(It depends on which adapter you have installed).

    9. Dell ControlPoint System Manager.

    Best Regards,
    Alex.

PS. And sorry for my English...
