Thanks Alex, for now I"m going to re-install all 19 steps (don't need to do the bios) in the order there. There doesn't seem to be a lot of bloat there. I only did a fresh install as I couldn't find my disc for doing the cloning (I have Acronis somewhere around here). I'm currently running 18gb or ram so even what little bloat there is I still have a ton of resources left.

I had a problem with (i) responsiveness and (ii) DPC latency - I installed LatencyMon, which informed me that my accelerometer was causing the problem. I re-installed the driver (uninstall/reinstall) and now it's working fine (odd).

Now it's just my fingerprint reader that isn't working.... and I can't install Dell ControlPoint ("a newer version is already installed." Is it? Really? Where?)

Does anyone have experience returning an M6600? I think I really want one and would like to try it out, but if I don't like it, I'd hate to pay shipping and a restocking fee on a $2000-$3000 machine. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

(Sorry if this isn't the right thread to ask this in)

    Thanks.

I have had DPS Latency issues ever since the laptop was released. My issues are with the NIC/drivers. Lenovo uses the same NIC for it's similarly spec'd workstations and they have the same issue, and more posts addressing it than the M6600.

I have tried so many different hacks from disabling PowerMizer (helped the most) to tweaking NIC settings, and registry hacks for power plans.

Did you try installing older drivers yet?

I had the same problem, but un-installing the Dell feature Pack actually helped my latency spikes.

[edit: I spoke too soon, the ndis.sys hitting over 1ms. ...

    lol, you're right, it isn't IPS :)

I double checked with one of the diagnostic tools mentioned earlier

Oh well, still not bad for $1000 :D

    Anybody ever install/uninstall the bluetooth?

I bought a module and trying to install now, but the cable isn't exactly cleanly going in. Do you have to use a lot of force to push it in?

Check that bluetooth is activated in the bios if you haven't already. It's function can also be tied to the wireless switch on the right of the laptop in the bios. If you're unsure of your current config, keep the wifi switch in the on position while you troubleshoot.

I would say - with an effort.
Maybe you have inserted the other way around? The downside?
    The module must be: link

    Best Regards,
    Alex.
