I can not say for sure (i did not do measurements) - it is a subjective feeling.

    Best Regards,
    Alex.

Is anyone else having trouble with bios A10? Ever since I flashed to A10 I am having problems, whenever the GPU gets loaded the backlight will temporarily dim and battery icon in the system tray flashes as if it was unplugged, it only lasts like one second and then backlight comes back on and battery icon shows plugged in again.

This happens regardless of whether optimus is enabled or not, even uninstalling the nvidia drivers and using just intel drivers it happens.. I notice that in A10 description is says they 'fixed' something about video switching =(

Even very moderate GPU load will cause this, for instance with aero enabled it happens every time I open an explorer window =/

Edit: This started when I flashed to A10 this morning, I already flashed back to A09 but the problem persists *cry*

I have an NVIDIA® Quadro 3000M 2GB GDDR5 memory card and am in the exact same situation after installing the latest driver updates for my M6600. Windows7 Aero Desktop effects is no longer functional.

    Any ideas???

    Thank you!

Which driver did you install - 297.03? If so, roll back to the 296.88, re install the newest Intel chipset driver, and upon rebooting enter BIOS to re-enable Optimus...

Interestingly, I just discovered that my laptop still works perfectly when docked. No problems as long as its getting power through the dock, but as soon as the power adapter is plugged straight into the laptop it happens (tried with two different power adapters).

Maybe its just a coincidence that this occurred at the same time I flashed the bios? Cause this seems more like a hardware problem now..

I have A10 installed with no known issues.

With that said, I do have the most stable and tested video drivers installed regardless of the fact they are from 2011 (see below). Sometimes, the newest driver updates are not the best - at first.

Likewise, if the system is working for your specific purpose, there is no law that says you have to update the BIOS and/or drivers.

By the way, the consumer series GTX cards do noy play 100% nice in the M6600 since the BIOS cannot address (ID) them correctly; regardless if you can get Windows to load the driver. The AMD cards do work fine as long as the vBIOS is reflashed.

Yea M6700 is only worth the price if you really need the high end quadro cards for rendering. M8900 is a much better value for gaming, it can easily overclock to match the stock speeds of 6990M if not higher.

Plus you can always upgrade the M6600 to a 680M later if you need more performance =)

My GTX 580 (flashed to 675M) works fine.. true the BIOS can't ID it and you have to mod the inf to install the drivers but once you do that it works normally

The problem I was having earlier is not related to the graphics card (GPU works perfectly when docked). Dell said its probably something on the motherboard they are sending out a tech tomorrow to swap it out =)

I am not sure how to check which driver was installed. For some reason, the Intel display adapter is not showing up under Device Manager anymore either.
