Optimus is likely disabled in the BIOS.

Maybe "2. Addressed Video display switch issue." solves the issue with flickering LG panels in M6600? Anybody could confirm that?

Going back to gpus again, anyone know the part number to the GeForce 675 or the 680, and maybe how much the parts cost? I assume they would work in the 6600.

No it doesnt solve the flickering issue. Somehow I don't care I just elevate the brightness to the point where its not flickering.

The Video switching issue is fixed though. This issue did bother me. When my M6600 was unpluged with optimus enabled and then pluged in after a restart or power on sometimes the Intel card just didn't work and only nvidia card was on so I had always had to go and turn OPTIMUS on again in the BIOS.

    Thx for info kosta20071.

It's little bit amazing why Dell can't find solution for this so long.
I think the problem is now forgotten by them. They are now focused on new M6700.

Just wanted to share some info with you guys. I just finished upgrading my CPU from 2520m to a 2960xm. All well including temperatures which are actually lower now, probably because of new thermal paste. I also replaced my screen due to some dead pixels and I got the same LG panel and I still have the flickering issue at low light level. I have to get it to at least the third level to not have the issue.

For those interested I replaced my palmrest with a new one that has fingerprint reader and contactles smart card reader. Windows detects the new hardware and the Broadcom USH is now ControlVault w/Finger Swipe Sensor. I would like to know why can't the dell data protection software can't see my fingerprint reader. When I try to register fingerprints it tells me to connect a compatible fingerprint reader. I read somewhere on the M4600 forums that it's a problem with what drivers you install. Can someone point out what drivers and software I need to get this thing to work? Thanks.

Just a quick question! Wondering if it's better to extend the warranty up-front when you purchase the laptop or if it's better to wait until later.

I have a strange problem with my 3g modem lately (dell wireless m5550 minicard).

I did the usual stuff (newest bios, driver for it, connection program and I did call dell with the problem and they put in a new minicard). But the problem still happens:

Where I use it connection signal strength should be max or near max (inner city). On occasion my signal strength drops to 1 out of 5 with performance going south (higher ping, 1/3 speed download, 1/10 or worse upload) for hours or even day's.

Now that might be provider based error, but sadly I think it is not. I have a 3g capable tab 7.7 with the same provider (I even switched cards to use the same conditions). On the same place, same card the tab has max connection strength (Download 6,6M, Upload 1,3M) and my dell M6600 struggles mightily with 1 of 5 signal strength (Download 2,1M, Upload 0,14M).

Can the tablet have so much better reception (that would be the only logical explanation, provider service got worse, the tablet does not notice it but the M6600 with antennas does)? I dont think so... And I did not have this kind of problems until this summer.

Any ideas to fix this would be nice. Thx.
