I would be very interested in such a comparison as I've been seriously considering to purchase one with the IPS panel for my photography work but the prices still are over my budget. I was wondering if someone could be able to do first hand comparison between the IPS and NON-IPS FHD panels and report on how much better is the IPS screen or vice versa, especially when both the screens are optimally calibrated using a pro tool such as the X-rite i1D Pro. I can save a lot of money if it's not that great of a difference in color reproduction (difference between viewing angles can be tolerated).

Your word/photo documentary would be more than welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Did you do a clean install or an upgrade from Windows 7? Any issues with drivers? (I can't see any final drivers for my AMD FirePro card)

So, do 680m work without particular fuss on m6600 or not?

    I'm afraid i haven't done it, so i can't be any help.

Reading through this thread a few people have stated that both cards need their vbios flashed and the 680m may require some messing about with the driver .inf.

It would be extremely helpful if someone who has done it could write a short guide on how to do it, hint hint :D

Here are some initial pics of the actual parts used in the IPS display version of the M6600. More info to follow this week.

I just installed Windows 8 RTM x64. It appears to work fine although there are some devices that it does not have drivers for and it cannot find (see attached image):

    -Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor
    -Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250
    -Mass Storage Controller
    -Unknown Device

I tried the searching Dell and using the built-in driver search within Windows 8, no joy. I'll keep my eye on the forum and I'll hunt around the manufacturers sites to see if I can find something. If anyone has any tips, pleas post them.
