OMG...I was thinking the Vostro 3700 was a good deal, and then I saw this:

    17.3 inch High Definition LED Display (1366 x 768) with Anti-Glare

no way...is this real? I thought is was 1600x900?

well, I have the m6500 on order ...guess I'll keep it.

I agree that for larger laptops, the resolution is pretty bad. But for someone like me, who is looking for a 13-14 inch laptop, this resolution is perfect :)

I'm hugely impressed with these. Was pondering ordering a i3 Inspiron 1564 last night to replace the MacBook in sig, but the Vostros look like a much better option given the improved looks and connectivity, reduced weight (just 2.3kg for the 15") and standard fit 7200rpm hard drive. I am just waiting for someone from Dell to get back to me on pricing, not happy with what they are quoting on website.

    It should. I have never seen a 17" 16:9 screen below 1600x900...

This lappy is is built for people with very long arms, people who should ware glasses, or have a pixel-counting fetish. ;)

This is really sad to see; the only laptop Dell is selling with HD resolution has a 16" troubled RGB panel with a blowtorch pointed at it if you put if to work (XPS 16, panel blocking heat exhaust when opened). :'(

edit: completely forgot to mention the wonderfull (but high budget) Precision M6500 and the Vostro 1720, lovely but a bit dated machine.

I've ordered a lot from them before. People have reported success with haggling over the phone, after all Dell want the business. I will report back when the rep rings me back. Currently I feel its overpriced, given the i3 1564 inspiron can be had for a lot less with similar specs.

I think the 17" 1366 x 768 is an error, can't see them selling it with less than 1600 x 900. Also spotted they are shipping with 32-bit Windows rather than 64-bit, not sure what thats about. The configurator is missing a lot of options like backlit keyboard and different colours. Hopefully websites will be updated soon.
