    Hi All,

Here is an Idea, make a list of the Good or Bad things about your Display. What type of Display you have:

And if you have Problems with your Display, list the steps that you have implemented to resolve the problem:

WUXGA RGBLED LCD, WUXGA LCD, and WXGA+ LCD
and add what you have in Device Manager: > Hardware id = ???

And add a Picture for Comparison with others.

    Just a Thought :)

I think the SEC5443 could be a red herring. If the M4400 has it, then there is no way this is the panel since the M4400 uses a 15" display. I think its more likely that "SEC5443" is the Samsung logic board that drives the display.

I took my M6500 over to the computer repair center here, and they pulled the screen and opened the LCD panel. I watched them do it, and it is not something I would attempt on my own. They had the specialized tools and experience to not break the computer or shock themselves. I would also not recommend anyone else trying to see what kind of panel they have. There are a lot of pieces that you could easily break that may not be covered by your warranty. Feel warned enough?

    My panel says:

    170UXGA / FPC LED V 0.5 on the cable
LTN170CT08 on the front in the metal and on the back sticker

Here is the rest of the info from the back:
    LTN170ct08-D01
    0946 17.0 WUXGA
    GC9J24 106B D01 (possibly 6C9J24)
    DPN 0J501T
    USP6639589/USP5280371

    LTN170CT08-D01

    LTN170CT - Samsung Panel
    08 - ??
    D01 - Dell

    http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/laptop.lcd.panels.htm

!! - See my post later on in the thread. Much of the information that I posted below is incorrect. The Samsung LTN170CT08-D01 is in fact an 8 bit panel that is made to Dell's specs.

I want to wait and make sure that I know what I am talking about. Always best in my book :)

Edit from a day later - I did not completely know what I was talking about. This is why being level headed and having facts to back up what you say is a good thing...

Is there a way I can do a screen cap to show if the colors are saturated? Mine don't seem saturated but I am not graphics savant. I use a fresh install of Windows 7 without ControlPoint installed. Nothing has been tweaked except the brightness.

I got same panel as Bokeh.

Lets use a simple photo and see the difference. I am using t60p compare with m6500.
