Today, i opened my machine, tried to put two memory from the back(A&B) into the middle slot(C&D), and the system can not recognise them, after that i tried to put one memory in the middle and one in the back slot and the system only recognized one memory! Is there any one know the reason or I need to have two memory at the back first then I can install the others?

I just received my M6500 Covet. I have been following this thread and do not recall seeing this questions (but the thread is long).

I have two Samsung SSD drives (256 not encrypted). I am not running RAID and do not plan to.

Under the BIOS, Under System Configuration, Under SATA Operations, RAID is selected. Am I better of selecting AHCI? And if so, will there be an issue booting up the computer by changing from RAID to AHCI?

The drives are Samsung SSD PM800. I am not sure of the firmware on them yet.

Also, if I choose to replace the second drive with something else like a 500GB drive, will I have any issues?

    thanks,

    Mike

You need to run AHCI to have TRIM support running in Windows7.
So I would switch, even if that means you have to re-install Windows.

Try switching to AHCI, if it boots you are ok, if not and you blue screen then you can switch back to RAID and it will still boot.

As far as the drive upgrade goes:
As long as you switch out the drive the OS is not installed on you can swap in a 500GB it won't change a thing.

Here are two extremely good SSD FAQs.

The first one shows how important it is for an SSD drive to have garbage collection firmware support enabled along with TRIM support.

This will show benchmarks of what TRIM and garbage collection actually do to speed up a drive. Very quick simple read:

thanks. I switch it to AHCI and windows booted. I had to do another restart probably becuase it installed the ACHI driver. I also ran this at the command prompt so it says TRIM is on.

    fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

Also, how do I check the SSD firmware to see if I need to updated it?

The Crystaldiskinfo software at the following link can tell you all kinds of useful information about your SSDs, including firmware version.

It might be a good idea to check your drive performance using crystaldisk on the new SSDs, that way you have a benchmark to measure against if you suspect the performance is beginning to degrade. Here's the link: http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html
