No problem. Are you using them in a RAID array? if not I hope you selected AHCI in the BIOS. If you didn't, trim will not be enabled with W7.

    Hi havoctex

Is there a problem with Spyder 3 Elite Software, and the M6500 is this the problem?
And if so what software is dell recommending?

    Thank You.

The default Dell image is definitely the problem.
What you get is after you finish the sysprep mini setup and log in, randomly you get a driver initialization "pop" or "crackle" the same sound you get as when Windows loads from a hard boot and the driver initializes.

I don't know if it is a power management thing where the device is disabled or being re-initialized.

I did a fresh OS install (win7pro64) keeping the default Windows driver and the issue was no longer present.

I also just installed the recent Dell 1/21 audio driver v. 6.10.0.6261.
(UPDATE) This driver does, make the popping sound. For example, when I load up Skype, and a new IM comes through prior to the sound you hear a pop. So I will load the default driver.

For those with the problem you may want to roll back to the default Windows driver and see if that fixes the issue.

Yeah I have 2 120GB drives now, and installed using AHCI.
So I am good, the firmware update actually destroyed the partition on my second drive but not my OS drive. So if you ever do it again be careful.

thanks for the info. please post back after a few days. I am going to hold off on reinstalling everything, but I might try to delete the drive and reinstall.

It came with the latest and I only reinstalled it without deleting it first.

I updated my post as soon as I installed the new driver it was fine in the OS but using apps like Skype it started popping again.

Rolling back to the default windows driver.

The windows driver works fine. I don't see why I need the Dell driver, unless...

Can someone tell me if there would be any difference in latency using the default driver and the Dell driver for something like Pro Tools?

If there is then I would have to try and work with the flaky Dell driver.
