In my opinion yes. They are very similar panels.
I had the LG panel with the M6400 with Edge2Edge.
The glass is what drove me crazy.

Whoever is managing the dell m6500 customize web site should be shot.

The large business configurator for the covet is a mess. Has been for many days.

Inconsistencies all over the place. The non covet has usb3 options.. but the covet doesn't.. What the hell is "covet for quad core processors" for$50???

Dell Precision M6500 Mobile Workstation, Covet [Included in Price]
Dell Precision M6500 Mobile Workstation Energy Star, Covet add $0
Dell Precision M6500 Mobile Workstation, Covet for Quad Core Processors [add $50]
Dell Precision M6500 Mobile Workstation Energy Star, Covet for Quad Core Processors [add $50]
Dell Precision M6500 Mobile TAA Workstation Energy Star, Covet for Quad Core Processors [add $50]
Dell Precision Mobile M6500 TAA Workstation, Covet for Quad Core Processors [add $50]

The non covet states "w/ USB3" in that same area for the $50

Then the hardrive stuff is a mess.. Raid 0, minimum 3 hard drives option, but there is no 3rd hard drive to select. Beautiful.

There is also another gobi option in the primary battery section. That's been like that for over a month. And actually subtracts $4.

    Wonderful.

I've attached my latest profile. The profiles have actually been relatively consistent each time I profiled the monitor. I didn't like Control Point potentially messing with the system profile, so I prevented Control Point from opening by disabling it in msconfig. You don't loose much functionality by disabling it in this way, and if you decide you need to use Control Point for some reason, all you have to do is open it through the Windows Control Panel interface. The theory is that the "native" profile of the display is equivalent to the NTSC selection in the Control Point software, but I haven't verified this. (I disabled Control Point in an attempt to "control the variables.")

My display brightness is set to 39% in the advanced power options. I like setting it this way for two reasons. 1) It more precisely matches the preset for 140 Nits in my calibration software 2) I like precision :) Actually I like being able to verify the 39% setting by seeing the number instead of counting "clicks up or down."

Note that my brightness of 140 Nits is commonly considered "too bright" for a controlled viewing environment where you are trying to match prints. The reality is that when I'm "on the road" I can't control viewing conditions that well, and I've found that 140 Nits gives me a better overall chance of properly adjusting image brightness and contrast given "normal" ambient lighting conditions. I can generally judge my lighting conditions and match prints fairly well. (If I'm in a dark room, I know that my display will be too bright to match prints, and so will be careful with my image brightness adjustments.)

As discussed previously in this thread, Windows 7 has a nasty habit of dumping your color profiles. When you install the profile in Windows 7, you should ensure you set the profile as the default for both "user' and "system" and then go into Windows Color Management > Advanced Tab > Change System Defaults > Advanced Tab and check the box for "Use Windows Display Calibration." This is the only way that users have found to force Windows to keep your custom profile loaded instead of dumping it and substituting the default Windows profile.

I hope this helps, and that you find a way to calibrate the system so that you are happy with it. Be careful when comparing the display to an older display that is not wide gamut. Even though you may have trusted that older display in the past, it can't show colors that are as accurate as those on a well profiled RGB LED screen.

    I hope this helps,

    Keith

    P.S.
Yes, you will need to change the file extension to .icm, and then install through Windows. I would add the profile through the "add" button in the Windows Color Management screen instead of doing the right click thing. (That way you can verify that it is loaded properly right there in the window, and then select it as your default.)

    P.P.S
I have the ATI graphics card, with colors set at neutral (default). Bokeh found with the NVIDA card that he had to make some tweaks to the default settings in order to get the system to display "neutral" colors without too much digital vibrance. There's also a chance that ATI and NVIDIA have different concepts of what is "neutral." (In other words, a profile from a system with an ATI graphics card might not be a great match for a system with an NVIDIA card.)

Well, after all is said and done mine will be here Monday or Tues!

Not going to re order and not going to care about 3.0 since I don't use any external hard drives for storage. All my work is done on a server at work and can always just copy everything to my drive at gigabit speed which is good enough.

I tell you one thing though if this thing has the slightest problem when it arrives its going back!
