well that's interesting... new Instant Savings modifier for the Covet in the small business section, as well as increased amounts for the non-covets...

Hi guys I own an M6400 covet which has the LG RGB screen. I was wondering if the new samsung RGB screens had smoother whites than the LG. What I mean is I think the LG is a matte screen with a glossy E2E over it because the whites don't look super smooth like the MBP's I've seen at Bestbuy, the LG has a little bit of a matted look (slightly grainy whites). So I was wondering if the samsung was indeed matte or truly glossy like the MBPs or if it has graininess whatsoever.

There is no difference between the Covet and Non covet LCD panel.
The only difference is the glass the put on to the screen for the edge2edge "look".

It's still a matte screen under the glass. The edge 2 edge is for looks only has no impact on performance.

If you want more consistent color calibrate the screen which will improve white balance and color uniformity.

Ok so the LG is a matte screen and the E2E glass/plastic is part of the bezel gives it a glossy appearance but still retains the matte "qualities" ie slight graininess. But the question is, is the samsung a matte screen then or is it glossy and does it have any graininess (esp whites).

    Hi,

As Keith says, thanks for posting your results with the WLED... I'm sorry (and a bit surprised) to hear that it failed so spectacularly to represent sRGB.

Dell are currently giving me the run-around with respect to returning my system, so I have a bit more time to try and improve the calibration issues I was having.

The theory I'd like to run with now is that there is some kind of problem with the (my?) Spyder3 combined with this screen.

Keith, I was wondering if you might be so kind as to re-post your current "best" profile (perhaps with the md5sum for it as well) and confirm your brightness settings again? I presume you use the NTSC controlpoint setting? I've tried to install the original profile you uploaded (with the DataColor profile loading tool) and I just keep getting the same error "calibration data in profile is an unexpected length, please select another profile". No amount of re-downloading it helps. As I understand, to install correctly you just need to change the extension to ".icm" and right-click/install (under win7)?

I'd really like to figure this out, since aside from the calibration quibble I love the system...

    Cheers,

    J

huh? Don't read you exactly, but 1220 bux off and 3.25% I would call a good deal, yes for sure if that's what you mean..sorry, didnt understand what you meant....zero bank rate for 18 months is good too....doesn't matter for me as I usually pay cash anyway.

Thank you guys!!! perfect info about these 2 display... I also measure gamut and greyscale of every display i can reach...

Maybe someone could use French ColorHCFR tool for measurements of the RGB-Led displays?

    Best, Walter
