Hey, I was about to burn a DVD when my software told me that my DVD is merely a reader...as I only got the option of BluRay or DVD 8X I'm wondering, do I have a 4K dollars machine which has no DVD writer!?

Is this correct? Anyone with the same drive (mine says HL DT ST DVD-ROM DU10N)?

    Regards,
    Pablo

    Unanswered Questions (Repost):
    • What's the difference between the standard M6500 and the Energy Star or TAA variants? TAA means it was made or significantly transformed in the US or in a country approved for sales to the US government.
    • Since the RGBLED is an 8-bit panel, will it look better for those of us using the web color space? That is, can we set it to sRGB and enjoy better colors in all our programs, vs. the WLED panel?
    • Has there been closure on that audio popping issue?
    • What about power brick noise?
    • Can it be ordered without OS? I have Windows licenses already.

You can find information on energy star here and here. In practical terms, I think the only difference is pre-configured power management settings.

If you have the money, do not hesitate : RGBLED. If you have more money, do not hesitate : Eizo. Your eyes will thank you for that.

No specific drivers installed => no audio popping noise

Not that much important, noticeable if you sleep closed to your computer. Maybe this is a feature to prevent sleep at work.

Yes, if you manage to negociate that.

    • What's the difference between the standard M6500 and the Energy Star or TAA variants? TAA means it was made or significantly transformed in the US or in a country approved for sales to the US government. The smaller brick is also Class V efficient - what's the bigger one? That may make it energy star?
    • Since the RGBLED is an 8-bit panel, will it look better for those of us using the web color space? That is, can we set it to sRGB and enjoy better colors in all our programs, vs. the WLED panel? I compared my Insprion 9300's CCFL WUXGA monitor to the RGBLED WUXGA one on my M6500... the latter totally and utterly kicks the $hit out of the former... I'm an engineer not worried about color spaces but I'm still glad I got the RGBLED.
    • Has there been closure on that audio popping issue? I've installed the Dell drivers and I haven't heard this at all. Win7 Pro x64.
    • What about power brick noise? I have two slim bricks, even from two different manufacturers (Delta and FlexTronics), and have never heard this.

Put your hand on the power brick, you will feel a little vibration. If you put your ear on it, you will hear a little brrrrrrrrr. I guess I'm very sensitive to this noise frequency but I notice the sound when my room is very quiet and computer fans are not working. Please tell me I'm not crazy! Anyway because of M6500 cost, at the moment I have no money to consult. :p
