    Hi all,

did everyone setup your systems first…

Before you do a Clean Install Setup your BISO first.

Go into the BISO and change to ACHI Mode first, I think this is part of the
problem, you will have to rebut your system.

Before you use your SSD make shore you update the firmware, you will need
something like rocketfish it’s a hard drive enclosure kit.

and giannini likes this one: ICY BOX it’s a hard drive enclosure kit too.

    I may be wrong,

By the way, do not get OCZ's Vertex LE! I read they were having issues with people losing data on various laptops, but I decided to get it anyway. After installing W7 and consolidating the free space via PD11, I logged off to allow GC to do its thing. After logging in W7 started to reinstall all the chipset drivers , then after a reboot the OS was unbootable! Luckily the good folks at Newegg (Jose) issued an advanced refund pending receipt of the drive. This was with the Latitude E6400.

    Hi skypx,

The little things popping sounds, I just haven’t see anyone talking about the
BIOS of their new system it just seems odd that no one is going over the BISO’s
settings of their new system, that’s all.

    Hey mannyA,

I guess I am the exception, configuring the BIOS was the second thing I did after unboxing the M6500. The first was to remove the HDDs, and install the SSDs. :D Please rest assured that the faint popping sound is nonexistent with version A13 of the IDT driver.

I am really surprised how fast Intel's 5300 is. This was transferring a 166MB trailer of Avatar to the desktop. :D

I had heard that those IDT audio drivers were a work in progress, so it makes sense to be the cause of that.

I don't think the popping noise is caused by the drivers. If I go to the BIOS or while rebooting, the noise presents itself (IDT driver installed). Its only when the OS is loaded that the noise goes away. With the IDT drivers uninstalled, I hear the noise while in the BIOS or before the OS is loaded.

I made some assumptions that I shouldn't have. The faint popping noise does not occur while in the BIOS, only once while booting (as the four parts W7 logo come together). This really isn't an issue, since the popping noise is so faint, I can't hear it if the TV is on. :)
