    I have the popping with the latest driver. Dell is still working on a fix.

    Waiting on my m6500 has resulted in a 'bonding' with my Vostro 1220. It's running games I never believed it could decently :)

    What is all this ACHI thing had to do with the SSD? Can someone explain to me please.

    I'm concern, because I order mine with a SSD. Thank you.

    Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new drivers?

    The performance of a SSD will be degraded if the BIOS is not in AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) mode.

    It's just a check box in the BIOS settings...no worries....:D

    mine came with the new driver. However, i did try uninstalling it and the sound is there.

    Mine came with SSD and was set to ATA. I just changed it ti AHCI in bios and once in windows, it loaded the new driver.

    I thouhgt that AHCI had to be set when installing the OS or it wouldn't work?

    i did too, but it worked. just changed in bios and no issues.

    I have a M4300 and a while back (last fall) switched the ACHI. I had to do a work around to get it to load the driver without installing the OS. However, that might have been with XP before I put 7 in it, I do not remember.

    I thought the M6500 would be the same, but it was not.
