Hopefully no DOA... i guess those also dont have USB3 because we ordered beginning of feb. even if they are build yesterday...

    Excellent knowledge, thank you Havoctex.

My system actually shipped last night, which was a sweet surprise.
With the customer upgrade option for USB 3.0 daughter card upgrade that we've seen, and in light of Bokeh's photos and description of the process, I for one know that I won't want to touch this.

I've never tinkered with a laptop except to remove a hard drive, and I am 100% confident that if I were to try this there would be broken pieces AND extra parts and screws left over once I got done...

Would it be possible to (eventually) send the laptop back to Dell to have Dell install the USB 3.0 parts at one of their facilities, by technicians who regularly work on M6500's rather than someone like in Gianinni's disaster of a case?

I'm in the school of thought of "once you take it apart it's never the same again" but this would be my first choice (except I can return and reorder but I do not believe I have the patience for this).

I can live with eSata and once USB 3.0 devices are more ubiquitous I'd go for the send back to Dell option if it was available.

Understood, and thanks again for the info on the displayport audio passthrough.

What I was trying to figure out in regards to the bluray drive was is it a single layer or dual layer burner. Dual layer being capable of writing to 50GB discs instead of just 25GB.

Does anyone else notice a slight arc on the keyboard? It seems like some of the keys are slanted either like this: / or \

Especially my numpad insert key, it really is beginning to annoy me.

Anyhow great work with the daughterboard, Bokeh. I'm in no hurry to upgrade just yet but once it is available you can be guaranteed I will get it. I also work with a company who uses exclusively all Dell machines (over 3000+ of them) and I don't get those kinda perks. What gives? Of course I never talk to the Dell rep directly but hey, I was the first here to accept delivery of an M6500 so at least I got you on that one ;)
