    Hi all.

Which driver do you recommend for the ATI M7740?
    I use Inventor / Solidworks / Catia V5.
    Thanks.

I returned my M6500 because the WUXGA WLED screen was horrible. Finally I decided not to move on to the RGB LED option as SRGB mode emulation doesn't calibrate right from what people here have tested, anyway I just don't want to wast anymore time on this. I'm very disapointed by Dell, I was expecting a better screen for the heavy price of that laptop, especially when such a huge company as Dell is targetting customers working in the graphic industry, guess I was wrong. It should be working perfect out of the box, it's not. I will just move to something else and maybe get back to Dell when they will decide some day to incorporate an IPS panel in their laptop.
Have fun all, and thanks for all your great posts.

    Hello,

Same probelmatic here. :( So still on search for good screen - also in sRGB standard mode. Therefore tested the ugly :) Alienware M17X workstation too. Besides the glossy screen it looked very good with my own pics after calibrating/profiling. And Dell specs tells here 24 Bit for color too for the 1920x1200 2CCFL panel.

It's NOT a matter of price for me - i want pay if i get my wishes fullfilled... :D

And regarding the RGB-Led in M6400/6500 it seems to be false implenting of Dell's software switching gamuts... :( Bokeh reported about good native color temp., and very cold in sRGB... Dell - make it right! ;)

Maybe anybody here could report about deltaE value in sRGB? I would appreciate that information...

    Best, Walter

It's all about it, I have to bet on Dell fixing the problem. M6500 has been out for more than 3 months and we don't see any improvement.

    Same skepticism also for me.

I've been reading this forum since day 1 and I am quite worried about some issues (screen, GOBI for EU, intel wifi 6300, etc.). Being in mechanical engineering business, I don't want to buy a colorimeter just to use it once. Dell should have provided correct pre-calibrated profiles and not to leave users to deal with it on their own. As a M6500 user, I would demand to be able to fully exploit my machine once it's out of the box and not spend time and money on calibration or other issues.

I am now waiting the release of HP 8740w, before I make my final decision.

Is it not out longer? RGB-Led was also an option for Precision M6400... For me the panel and usability is my primary factor for deciding new notebook...

Now the status means for me that the user has to delete Dell's control software for switching gamuts and can only profile right in native (NTSC) mode - so sRGB pics are only accurate in software working with color management? Am i understanding the issue correct? Further i am curious how accurate is that sRGB emulation? deltaE?

Very annoying and hard to decide for high-end products at present... Marketing seems to be all...

And i allready have an older Dell notebook with non-accurate display...

    Best, Walter

Uninstall the Dell audio driver and use the default Win7 audio driver.

I think that and invisible or thin shield around the edges is not enough. I am constantly trying to keep my forearms up so that they are not hurt by the edges and corners. A rounded and slanted shape like the M6300 is what is needed.

I read that quite a few people share this complaint.

    Hi YBcold,

    PowerDVD = Blu-ray Disc™ with Roxio and Cyberlink PDVD™ [add $435]

This may help with the crackling sound, coming from the speakers...

Just wondering, have you checked the settings for PowerDVD player?
Like the Audio settings Tab, and make sure that the settings in the speaker
environment are set to: 2 speakers

This is a sample of the larger User’s Guide.pdf file CyberLink: Software Update page.
Under Product Name: PowerDVD and under Updates, click the update...

    See attached pdf.

    Hope this helps,
