For those are very disappointed with the M6500's screen... wait a bit. It's rumoured HP will include a 10-bit IPS panel in 8540w and 8740w... (DreamColor Gen. 2) For the cost, I don't know, but don't expect this exclusive panel is cheap.

On the other hand, I've received confirmation (from a reliable source) that 8740w will be released this month (fully sure). Read this for more info.

What exactly is the screen issue? Sorry about the TL;DR. Only eye-calibrating at the moment as I haven't had time to stick the calibrators on, but screen seems to be pretty much what I expected to me. I'm using NTSC but the blue tint seems controllable.

Where are you adjusting the settings? Nvidia or Dell Control point?

    Hi there.
I am thinking about buying an M6500 with an i5 CPU.May I upgrade later on to an i7? or do they have different motherboards?
What difference may I expect in performance with ATI m7740 vs FX3800M?
    Thanks

I can understand you, but personally I'm not doing HP no way, no how....I'm going to tweak the m6500 as best I can....then that will be the end of it. (RGBLED)

Others on here have said they are getting more than adequate results after calibrating, which I don't mind to do. I'll first try an icc profile that was posted in this thread. Dell is also good about changing their software to meet users needs and desires....the Precision is the ONE notebook they'll give priority to.

    theZoid,

Here here, I’m with you on that. If I have to, I will buy an IPS display panel and have it installed.
And I have one lined up just incase.

For those of you with the Samsung RGB LED display, have you calibrated it to 1.8 gamma and if so, are there any profiles someone can post up for download? Thanks.

    Has anyone had any issues with fingerprint reader not able to be seen when enrolling finger prints? From a bit of research, it appears that it is a USB device that is connected via a Broadcom hub, and thus is not recognized as a Windows 7 Biometric Device;

Any luck on fixing such issues?

Here's a post where apparently this is a problem with the M6500's and numerous other dells. I was looking forward to using this for Win logon, as well as password management.

I just get the "connect fingerprint sensor" message both in the Dell ControlVault "Enroll fingerprint" application as well as on the Windows 7 logon screen. I tried starting the Biometric Service, reinstalled the controlvault drivers, and same thing. I enabled TPM in the BIOS, rebooted, and did several "make my fingerprint reader work rain dances" to no avail.

I have the FIPS. Furthermore what is interesting is Device Manager shows drivers as Dell ControlVault w/o Fingerprint Sensor. Even after reinstalling the driver.

If I find anything, I will post on it, of course.

    Hmmm.
    Any luck, anyone?

    Hi ddk632,

Have you seen the New: Dell ControlVault Firmware Update 14.x. 118.0, A15

And Read the Fixes and Enhancements, as well as the Installation Instructions.

    Hope this helps,
