Right now I am sticking with 2.2 on the display because I do a lot of Web and Video work. I may experiment with 1.8 for printing photos at some point.

The reviewer was using an EyeOne Display 2 colorimeter, which is not the best choice for a wide gamut display. It can be made to work, but you really have to know what you are doing to correct for the fact that this colorimeter doesn't have the "range" or correct color filters for a wide gamut display.

Right now the best calibrator options appear to be the Spyder 3 or one of the spectrophotometers from Xrite.

Anyone else getting a rainbow-like cast in sRGB mode? I've been doing more on the Covets and I have a nasty suspicion that I might be experiencing similar issues to some of you after all. More delays until I can use these damned things properly? Hope not.

    Hi Bokeh,

How is the 2.2 gamma working out, and what are your final M6500 Display settings as far as brightens (Backlight control) and contrast. Did you have to make any meager tweaks to your Spyder 3 Elite settings? or did you just set your target to 2.2 gamma and WhitePoint To 6500K, like in the Spyder 3 Elite Intro Video. I like the idea of using the Spyder 3 Elite over the Xrite software, for the added Features as in Spyder 3 Elite Features video.

Keith uses the Xrite software with excellent results, but Keith also uses the ATI 7740 card.
I will be using the Nvidia FX 3800M card.

Bokeh & Keith, I was wondering if you could run internet explorer or some other non Color Managed Program & A Color Managed Program. And take a picture of it. And or use a video captor program, like Camtasia Studio they do have a free trial. Of your M6500 display to get a sense of the outcome, and post it here for us to see.

I am just trying to figure out the best way to go about this.

I am also wondering about the LG display panel, if anyone with the LG panel has used the Spyder 3 Elite software to calibrate their display, and if yes if they could post their results.

Thank You for Your Help. :)

Yes, the Munki is one of the spectrophotometers from Xrite. The software is very basic compared to some of the other options, but the hardware calibrator is top notch, and the software performs the basic calibration functions well. I've been happy with my calibration results from the Munki. (At the default gamma of 2.2.)

    Hi Manny,

I'll see if I can figure out a way to do this that makes sense. Of course you will need a wide gamut display to view the file on in order to see the differences. I assume you have access to a wide gamut display?

Yup, I haven't found them for much less, which is why I will not be able to buy one.
