Well I don't have to send this one back until the replacement gets here so thats a plus and I was able to get 36% off the price of the system through our company so a total of 1,700 ish in savings!

    Not bad I think.

I've been running 3DS MD 2010 and it supports Hyper Threading so I woiuld think Autodesk would end up intigrating this into all thier software at some point since this is the direction that processors are headed. not to mention if you do andy rendering it will speed things up since you will have 8 seperate buckets rendering instead of 1 or 2 or 4.

Aside from that the 920 has been doing great with all the Revit and 3ds software.

Thanks. It will be interesting to see if there is a response. I'm not sure much can be done; however, it certainly helps to understand how and when the sensor can affect the display colors so that we can avoid those situations when doing color-critical work.

Did you also have to make a new calibration profile after updating bios? If yes, can you post it please?
Sorry about the sunlight test on my LG screen, no sun since 4 days. :(

ok guys - can I get some help on this please as Dell are officially giving me the run around. My chassis is *definately* not Aluminium and is a silver plastic. It bends at the touch and I have my Aluminium MacBookPro sat next to it for comparision. It is *not* Aluminium*

However Dell are saying that it is and they only ship the M6500 in Aluminium chassis.... which I keep telling me hard to believe as its sat in front of me....

Can peopel check their chassis for me and let me know if I'm just crazy or if you also have plastic chassis.

Also what screen did you order as it appears to be related to the screen. I ordered the 1920x1200 WLED screen.

    Cheers guys

I don't have one so I am just taking a guess at this....maybe it is a bit of symantics they are using. The CHASIS could be aluminum and still have plastic panels. So what you may want to ask them is if the actual covers are aluminum too.

i got two non-covet m6500, one with the new usb 3.0 and one without one, but the chassis look the same on both in terms of build quality, and they do look like they are aluminum and not plastic as i tried to bend the edges and they wouldn't even move anywhere on the laptop. i would assume plastic would bend a little... but i maybe wrong. Either way, the chassis look strong enough.

I did end up making a new profile after updating the bios. Strangely enough, the "brightness" setting seemed to be calibrated differently after the bios update. The new profile includes more saturated reds than the previous profile. Its hard to tell whether these changes in the profile (although minor) are caused by the new bios, the new ATI driver, or by my decision to calibrate the screen to a slightly less bright setting.

I decided to calibrate the screen closer to the "normal" target of 120 nits (now at 36% brightness in the advanced power settings), in order to better match print brightness when working in "controlled" lighting conditions. My previous calibration target of 140 nits was a little too bright for good print matching.

I'll attach the profile, with a caveat that it is probably only accurate for people with a Samsung RGB LED display, bios A002, and ATI 01 drivers. (Don't forget to change the extension back to .icm.)
