    Hi John,

Just curious; which Display Panel do you have, Samsung or LG

“ It is xrite's software that shows a guide that one needs to center the needle
on as a first step ”

I see what you mean, about the Eye-One spectrophotometer:

    Eye-One spectrophotometer: YouTube Video 2

This thing is sweet, but pricey.

    Hi John,

    Ok, that says it all.

And you got the Samsung display to calibrate just like that sweet.
    Do you have any Pictures?

I need to get one. Now where do I get one at a resemble price?

John, where did you get your Eye-One Spectrophotometer?

    Thank You,

I just realize on my Covet, my backlit keyboard isn't (backlit, that is).

I did a clean install of Win7 x64. Do I need a certain driver to implement this, or is there a setting that turns it on and off?

    Thanks.

You need to install the Dell Control Point software, and you can adjust it there...i.e. turn it on, change how long it stays on. This is the way it works with my m4400 I suspect the m6500 is the same.

Wait....check the BIOS too to turn it ON in the first place. My backlit keyboard worked in Linux as well, not just windows. In Linux it would stay on for 15 sec's which must be the default if you do nothing else.

I have an older GM i1 Display2 with recent xrite software for 7. Nothing too expensive but does the job.

IE8 is not a color managed application. You have to use Keith's profile and try on photoshop for example.

I can't remember, do you have samsung or LG panel?

I received a Dell Technical Update notification with the information of two new monitor drivers available. One for a U2311H and one for a U2211H. I checked the devmgmt.msc, but couldn't find out which is for the RGB-LED. Any idea how to find out?

And yesterday I noticed something strange: when I move my ear (head still attached) to the upper left of the notebook chassis (not the screen) and press the power on button, I can first hear for a second a mechanical noise, seem to be the DVD drive. Then 4 very low beeps, probably not out of the loadspeaker. Then again the mechanical noise. All happens before the Dell logo is on the screen.
My M6500 is equipped with the standard DVD drive (tray load) and a M7740. I didn't take notice of any issues like performance, all seems to work well.

Good news, Dell shipped my system today, two weeks early !
Bad news, I'm on a ship off Samoa and will be here a while,
It will be waiting, I hope the lab monkeys don't get it!
