On this we agree and have agreed for a long time. The sRGB preset in ControlPoint is not acceptable.

As I probably put earlier, my actual frame of reference isn't any of my laptops, least of all the Mac - I have a barrage of Apple, Dell and Eizo monitors at my disposal. The Mac was there as it - along with many other laptops I've had - is kind of a baseline in what I've seen from decent notebook screens from HP etc.

Even in NTSC mode, the M6500's representation of the Fuji models is one of severe sunburn, and I'm still not sure it can be calibrated out totally.

Do you know if your panel is the Samsung or LG? It sounds like you are familiar with color calibration. Still trying to figure out that native 4900K measurement you got. I will likely catch up with TheZoid while I am here in Orlando this weekend so that I can see his LG equipped M6500 in person.

Did the Eizo tell you what the native gamma curve was? Mine was either 1.78 or 1.82 - can't remember off the top of my head.

Sorry if the other post sounded condescending. It read it back and realized it came out differently than I meant for it to. I have a lot of respect for you, just hoping to find an easy answer to your issues.

I think you might be getting me mixed up with the other guy who was replying to my posts - I didn't throw out the 4900K measurement.

The 4900 quote is from me and was by calibrating to a native white point using the Xrite/GM software. Even trying to calibrate in non laptop mode, at the point it wants to set white point it displays 4900 for what it reads for the screen though I have no way to adjust the monitor itself, or contrast. But that's what I have been been going by. It makes sense though, to me, why we see a yellow cast.

Well, the Covet should be here this week provided it isn't delayed. Its gonna be kind of interesting having a covet and the standard 6500 side by side. I'll have to take some pics while I have them both here.

On another note has anyone been having problems with window explorer?

I keep getting an error when I open "documents". Windows says "Explorer has stopped working please wait while we search for a solution." Then it says its stopping and restarting explorer and then closes the window. Anyone know of a fix for this?

Well, after going back to a restore point before installing 3DS MD 2011 it seem that it only does it when I enter a specifc folder that has some ACAD and Revit files in it and the Explorer is set to show files as Icons or previews. Aside from that it has mostly gone away.

If this is not fixed by Microsoft soon I will not be able to use Win7 for any of my work PC's and will not be upgrading the rest of the office as planned!

If you don't care about the thumbnail/preview features of Windows Explorer you can disable that feature per file extension. As the preview crashes your Explorer I guess you don't care too much :)

Open regedit. Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Search yout extension, e.g. ".acad". Open that key and check if you find a subkey named ShellEx. If yes, do you find another subkey named with a GUID (some digits between curly braces)? If yes, rename that key, e.g. prepend a "dont" to the GUID. Do this for all extensions which seem to cause the crash.
Logoff/logon and check if the crashes are gone.

Check those keys again after you started one of those apps. If you are unlucky the app restores the key when it is started.
