    Hi boxie

Sorry to hear about an other delay :( But the deal of urs looks pretty nice:D
Actualy mine wasnt delayed yet, i ordered it on 24/3 and the estimated date is 5/5 so they still have 3 weeks to deliver. I was just hopping that it might arrive sooner, coz i just have my old notebook running just in save mode (graphic card is down), so the only think i can use is internet and it is realy slowing me dows as i have to go to the university to do some work...
I just dont get y dell is so uncapable to deliver these machines on time, i mean saw that quite a lot of u ve been waiting for nearly 2 months or got canceled and had to reorder. I just hope i ll be one of lucky ones that got it on time

Just feel like throwing in that as of late, my Precision desktop and laptop experience - especially on the laptop front - is the most trouble-laden [ordering / getting machines working to a stage where I'm happy phase] experience that I've yet to undertake with a major manufacturer to date.

I had serious fulfillment issues with Precision desktops, which lead me switching eventually wholesale to HP Z's (and I have to say - I like the desktops better, but that wasn't wholly the reason for switching - I'd be perfectly happy in what I do with them with the Precisions as well). Apart from some parts mixups which were quickly corrected, I've had zero order fulfillment and related issues with HP as of late.

The situation isn't quite as bad as Apple in terms of the lack of QC / DOA/FOA, but the difference is however that Apple people in terms of account management / customer care guys are generally pretty helpful and don't get in your face, which does definitely take the sting out of the crap Apple hardware. Whereas with Dell, you have to fight all the way up to talking several times to managers before you get satisfaction.

Dell isn't anywhere near as bad as Sony yet (where the head of the service department has insinuated to my face that I'm a moron) in terms of people but it can be an immensely frustrating experience to have something simple, yet a deal-killing problem, corrected. An experience that I've seen with HP at least that I don't necessarily have to tolerate.

Apple hardware and Dell people with Sony support would definitely be a recipe for me going postal.

    Bokeh,

Could you please repost the profiles for the samsung and any other settings I would need to change (Gamma, brightness, etc).

I've had my m6500 for almost 5 months now and i'm just now getting into the color calibration thing. At first I would just load a profile as is but lately I've started to realize that the oversaturated reds took a lot of detail out of some imagry (like the espn.com top background image) so I want to get it perfect! thanks in advance

Hi. First of all - thank you everybody for your patience and every piece of good advice you're giving to this community. Second - I would buy one M6500 soon - only I need to sort some things out of Dell reps from UK.

My fist question goes to every one that has Covet and wants to help me choose the "good one": do you think you should have gone with the non-Covet?

I will mainly use it for software development. Covet is an option because non-covet does not have the 3.2 webcam - and I need it. Only I'm concerned in normal light Edge 2 Edge might be annoying. Currently I own a XPS M2010 - and it's not matte at all - so I know how is to see yourself sometimes in the mirror.

Second question: the mini-card SSD is NOT available in UK(nor any other EU store) - but is available in US. As havoctex said, with mini-card SSD you only can have the other two in RAID - this makes no sense at all; I would really love it non-RAID - Havoctex is there any chance to have them working non-Raid in the (near) future? Otherwise, I will drop this dream (having minicard SSD + 2 more SDD in a non-RAID setup) into the pond.

    Thank you.

Any update on the bios update to specify core count like in the new E-Series does?

Also, any word on the audio driver issues with the IDT software in windows7?

To be frank, it's ironic to have audio driver issues out of the box on a machine that carries a Digidesign certification for Pro Tools.

The default win7 drivers work but it would be nice to actually have the chipset's own lower latency ones working without popping sounds.

Havoctex, thanks for the reply and I look forward to info re the USB 3 part number when you let us know in a week or 2. I take it ordering this part will also be relevent to us UK M6500 owners.

And also as Dezoris asks, any further info on the BIOS update would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Mitchellboy and Gripper, thanks for the replies re the USB 3 part number. As per the previous few posts, Havoctex has stated that he will confirm the part number in the next week or so, so will wait to find out more then.
