Thanks for the calibration profiles, Bokeh / theZoid - although I'm not sure what panels I have, it served as a useful confirmation to not being 100% happy with my own calibrated results.

I have a few remaining issues which might mean the machines needing to be replaced so I'm not going to do anything else now, but I intend to revisit calibration in more detail once everything is sorted - so thanks. After that, I might also throw up my calibration profiles.

I'm not sure why but the router is only able to run at 2.4ghz at 240mps. yet for some reason it still only runs at 54mps. im going to try and rest the router completly

Well, I tried everything from uninstalling the wireless card to resting my dual band N router and the damb intel card in this thing will not connect at a faster rate than 54mps. I hate this, I'm so glad that theree is a replacement on the way.

I'm not sure what is causing this but every time it connects to the N signal it reverts to a G signal and only runns on channel 1 @ 54mps. I checked every setting I could find and everything is working right and I even updated the driver to the latest driver from Intel's website!

I'm at a loss but don't care that much since the Covet should be here on or before the 21st!

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me if I'm not correct :
    -5 down : 33%
    -5 up : 66%
    -full brightness : 100%

I can barely see a difference between the different brightness levels and I see no difference between native and 6500k color temperatures. For the first point I think it's because, like Bokeh said, the LG panel is very stable over different brightness levels. About the second point, maybe I need new eyes or a special picture to notice the difference.

Anyway I chose your 6500K 5 Down profile which is very relaxing for my eyes and looks accurate. Thanks to you and Bokeh.

What is crazy is that I never heard about screen calibration before buying the M6500. Now I cannot come back to an uncalibrated screen with unaccurate colors.

I believe you are right...that's why I just left it at full brightness (seem easier with my trifocals). Bokeh gets all the credit...All I did was let him in the front door late at night and sit back and watch the Spyder (and Bokeh) do their thing.

Having seen the LG and Samsung side by side, same image, same settings, it's pretty much a wash and personal preference. Calibrated the LG looks ever so slightly washed out (or more neutral) mainly with red tones, compared to the Samsung...which some will prefer, and other's won't. I think Bokeh and I both came to the conclusion that there really is no 'best' screen....be happy with whichever one you got.

I agree to that there's no going back to a non wide gamut screen...:)

does anyone else have issues with the headphone jack? When I plug in my headphones and I play a video then a system sound occurs the sound is routed back to the laptop speakers and I don't know how to fix it other than stopping and restarting the video and thats unacceptable. Any suggestions?

So I recently started to find out which calibration device is the best for LED screens.
I found a very nice faq which explains a lot of things, for example backlight LED screens need additional calibration table to get accurate results.

The information in the comparison review may well be correct (and it appears to be well researched and backed up with tests - I've not read it all the way through) but note that they recommend most highly the instruments that they sell through that review; and that makes me nervous of the claims. Their ranking order is approximately the same as the order of prices they charge you for each device; well I suppose it ought to be in a "you get what you pay for" world - but the one instrument they single out for real criticism is of course the one thing in the list they're not selling. I guess they'd say they don't supply it because it isn't any good, but I also guess their claims would be hotly disputed by its manufacturers and it may be they don't sell it because it undercuts what they do sell by so much. Of course, I'm biassed, because I bought the Spyder, but what I can say (from a position of very little expertise) is both that the display calibrated with the Spyder 3 is hugely better than the uncalibrated display, and that the calibration remains consistent and repeatable over a period of, well, as long as I've had it (a few weeks). The problems we had in calibration early on were with the driver for the graphics card. The calibrated gamma and colour temp are now spot on, albeit as measured by the Spyder itself - to begin with that wasn't the case, but it was the weird gamma causing that, and the updated driver fixed it completely for me. For sure the Spyder isn't the highest level pro device, but you guys who need the highest level pro device, whose businesses rely on deltaE values measured in decimals, probably already know who you are. I can be pretty sure those guys will not be using ANY laptop screen for mission critical stuff.

I agree with you. Moreover some prices are very strange, for example X-Rite EyeOne Pro is sold around 100$ on the web and here it's around 1000$ with their software and some stuff.

They do not say spider 3 is a true . They are just saying that "it lacked factory calibration" and "approximately 1/3 were accurate enough out of the box for serious display calibration". You can note these statements were made in 2008, we do not know if they are still true and how important the inaccuracy was.

Again I agree with you. By posting the link, I never wanted to launch a controversy about Spyder devices, I just wanted to underline the fact that as M6500 has a LED screen, maybe specific calibration tables could improve the final result. ;)

Yes I had that problem a lot namely going from in and out of the dock.
Annoying as hell. I removed the IDT drivers, which kind of helped but the problem resolved after I switched away from using display port connectors on the docking station.

But if you use it out of the dock, I dont know.
