Updated the first post so information is easier for others to find! To be honest the Vostro 1220/1320 both seem like a far better deal.

Isn't the 1320 far thicker? If so the Vostro V13 is a better deal.

I really think Dell has something special on their hands. I mean this thing is super thin and packs decent power in an aluminum body on the cheap. This is a very difficult task.

well you have to sacrifice power for portability..... 1220/1320 have more power, V13 more portability, and looks better due to aluminium?

$150 is kind of a big jump for just adding a better cpu and a web cam. They should have given it the SU4100 for $599 and made the base the dual core celeron model you see as an option on the 11z. Then again the base price is about the same at the 11z, and besides the smaller size I see no reason to get the 11z over this.

For $549 you can get a Vostro 1330 you get a standard C2D CPU, 2GB ram, 160GB hdd, true 58whr 6 cell battery to go with it. Yes it's going to be heavier, but by how much? It's not like the difference between 13.3'' and 15.4''. It's what? 0.6lbs lighter (V13) whilst that is significant, that 0.6lbs accommodates for the bigger battery and much faster CPU.

I was scratching my head wondering the same thing. Even on price it has trouble competing; the base 5310m starts at $699 with Windows and a dual-core ULV; the V13 $599 with Windows and a single-core CPU.

Good try, Dell, though you need to lower the price.

Don't get me wrong I love my 5310m but
for $699 the entry level 5310 has SU2300 Celeron Processor, while the Vostro V13 configuration for $50 dollars less $649,has SU7300 Core duo 3m cache processor which in my opinion makes it a better deal at this pricepoint for the 2 listed configs.;)
