Information on how to do this would be useful.

Agree, I'm confused with this overclocking thread. A summary of the whole process for the various V13 CPU configurations and memory adjustments would be very helpful...

You adjust RAM settings in the BIOS by holding down a key during boot. Look in your manual for instructions.

What they are saying is that when you overclock your processor the memory gets overclocked too. The CPU can probably take 25% overclock without trouble but the memory probably cannot. So, you need to give the memory some breathing room by adjusting its settings downward a notch as described.

Problem is you cant do that on a Dell, they have removed all the memory timings in the bios, So the only option is to reprogram the spd chip on the RAM to use looser timings at 500Mhz.

jeanlouis seems to have done just that.

Anyone know if Dell will sell replacement batteries and if they will be available from numerous vendors such as batteries with other Dell laptops?

I sure hope so as it's one of the reasons I buy from Dell. If they only let you replace it with a service call or send it back to Dell I'll be sending my V13 back.

So far I can't find any replacement batteries on the net or at Dells site unless the product is too new.

The battery is not replaceable without cracking open the entire notebook. It isn't a quick swap-n-run.

I'm going to guess the swap is not that difficult, but still.

I saw a new V13 battery on Ebay that they said was from Dell. As long as the battery is available for sale and can be swapped out with normal tools I'll be happy. Just don't want to have to send it in for servicing

I hate to break it to you, but most of those batteries are not even authentic batteries.

Thank you for your help! I assume that everyone else can notice the same effect?
