Got mine yesterday - and I think I'll keep it. I really like the sleek design and the general "feel" of it, my old 14,1" seems so incredibly bulky compared to the V13. The display will do just fine, the 1,3 Ghz ... well, a bit on the weak side (because I also use it for programming) but as I've seen here, it can even be overclocked a little.

All in all, it seems to be a good lil Laptop. Just the 7200 rpm harddrive is a real bummer, that has to go ASAP. I didn't expect the noise and vibrations to be that bad. I guess it is time for my first SSD then. Or just use the 5400rpm Scorpio from my 14" ...

Does one of you know if changing the HDD will void the entire notebook's warranty? I remember that with some Notebooks changing for example memory and HDD only voided the warranty of the parts, not the notebook itself.

I wonder if Dell will pre-install Ubuntu 10.04 when it's released next month and hopefully supply any necessary driver updates for the new release?

Perfectly, I can say. It run smooth, kind of fast. This laptop is for my GF works, she uses the web + video and microsoft office only. I will update the post if I find the driver for the laptop. Not sure what is the brand name of the webcam

I never try to see if the webcam and microphone work on Linux OS.

The overclocking tools is not working on my new Dell V13 Bios v2.0. It might be because of new hardware, they ship it 03/11/2010?

just got my v13 yesterday and am so far pleased with the machine.
cons: the keyboard has a cheap feel to it and a backlit keyboard option would've been appreciated. (blind as a bat and i don't touch type)and i have found it not as responsive as a lenovo laptop. the hd is noisy and the vibirations are annoying. ssd woul've been a valuable option. windows 7 is a bit sluggish but i'll upgrade to linux in a few days should settle the dust a bit.

pros: great screen. adequate processor power for my uses when travelling and a very light fantastic sexy looking beast. i am yet to hear the fan which is excellent.

all in all i love this laptop barring the crappy keyboard. maybe dell'll bring out a backlit solid one soon

I have a sierra 880u wwan module but unfortunately it is not compatible with the v13 so i'll have to get the dell wwan module when i find out which one fits and i'll also upgrade to an ssd at the same time which will take care of the hard drive noise and vibrations.
