    Fellow brudders.

Meet the new competitor in town to beat v13.
The new Inspiron m301z with AMD DUAL NEO that may consumes lesser wattage than the CULVs, with 6 cell 44kwh removable battery.

Popping up soon in the business range products in selective markets.

They do look nice but wow if this is the US Dell site they start at $999
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Also, it looks like they are not aluminum as there is no mention of it. Nice specs with a 3D card but if you're using a notebook this size it's usually for web browsing and portability.

    Good find though. !

Let's compare the dimensions, which I think is the V13's main selling point
    Height: 0.65-0.78" (front/back) for the V13 vs. 0.94” (front/back) for the M301z
Width: 13" for the V13 vs. 12.91” for the M301z
Depth: 9.06" for the V13 vs. 9.27” for the M301z
The V13 is still "significantly" thinner than the Inspiron M301z.
Now let's look at te price difference, another major selling point. The M301z looks like it will be more expensive than the te V13 as well.

The basic configuration of M301Z is selling in Singapore @ a tag of $999. Hence, i wouldn't think that the U.S price could hit as high as USD$700.

In terms of cosmetic look, it's like comparing Chevrolet Cruze(M301Z) to HONDA CIVIC(v13). Definately most ppl who're after sleek look will prefer v13 over M301Z.

But when it comes to hardware performance, i believe that there'll be debatable issues among the 2.

You gained battery life from Linux? How many hours did it last in Linux and Windows? What kind of (if any) tweaks did you do?

i've so far had a tad over 6 hours under linux, but i expect this to improve over time as i tweak the kernel. i'll post a detailed answer soon about all the steps i took which include adding options to the fstab to reduce disk activity. dunno about windows i've never been on it long enough to find out but as part of my reply i shall do so.

    Hi all,
Good day. My v13 is now installed with W7, I am wondering whether its normal that there is no on-screen-display when I make adjustment on the volume or brightness?
    cheers,
    Colin

My V13 came preinstalled with Windows 7 and there are no on-screen visual indicators for volume or screen brightness.
