Either you chose the wrong V13 model or you inadvertently added something else to your config.

Go here -> The Dell Online Store: Build Your System and add it to your cart. It'll add tax plus $8 for shipping.

Who can make sense of how they price the outlet computers. I got this about two weeks ago for 315.06 tax included after a 15% coupon. They had several with the same configuartion but different prices! I picked the cheapest one (349.00).

You are still within the window to return it. Just mention you would like new instead or they could even give you a small refund, worth trying.

As was mentioned earlier the higher prices on the Outlet store are offset by coupons. Generally speaking you find the better deal at the Outlet store until Dell decides to clear out their stock, as is the case with the V13.

Same thing happened to me with a Vostro 1520. I bought one at a great price at the Outlet store and 2 months later they had an even better deal when they cleared out their stock of the Vostro 1520.

Congrats, that's a great price for a really nice laptop that doubles as a Netbook. The thing is impressive when you first take it out of the box and realise you only paid $350 for it.

    Question about RAM for overclock:

My unit came with 2GB of DDR3 at 1333 mhz. Motherboard still only goes to 800 mhz, so no value there.

However, with that stick, I was able to overclock the FSB to 1 Ghz without issue.

I recently got a 4GB 1066 mhz stick on sale. Unfortunately, the same overclock, despite 1 Ghz being less than the rated 1066 Mhz, causes the computer to lock up in Windows.

What I wanted to see, from anyone who knows much about RAM, is whether most/any 1333 mhz ram will work fine (like my 2 GB module did) or whether I need to be worrying about the 1333 mhz RAM having certain timing capabilities. Or, more simply, does 1333 mhz RAM inherently have better stability when overclocked than a stick rated for 1066 mhz.

Someone had speculated earlier that the computer, despite the 25% FSB bump, would be trying to run the RAM at the 800mhz timings, which might be too agressive for the 1066, but still tolerable for the 1333.

    http://reviews.cnet.com/i/tim//2009/12/08/3GS_9.10_006_540x405.jpg

but i have a question and i hope this helps out anybody else

I plan on upgrading my V13 and make it an Ultimate machine as soon as I receive the laptop. What are your recommendations on buying more ram (right now its at 2gb running 32bit Win7) but I plan on upgrading that also to Win 7 Home or Pro 64bit. Would you also recommend an SSD upgrade? I would appreciate any answers. Thanks guys.

It's even more impressive than that in person tbh. I already own one, the Celeron based V13. My V13 is on the FedEx truck today. Looking forward to it. You'll be shocked when you see the laptop and ask did this only cost me $349.

My V13 with the Celeron only has 2GB of ram and it runs Windows 7 just fine although i've read the SU7300 runs it even faster. So 2GB should be fine. If you need 4GB of ram it will require you to open the laptop and replace the stick of ram. Remember there is only 1 slot for the stick of memory. ;)

You can drop a SSD but i'd wait and see if you like the 320GB 7200 rpm drive first. ;)

The 320GB 7200 rpm without question generates more heat and vibration vs the 250GB 5400rpm. Fit and finish is good, no dead or stuck pixels.

edit: This laptop definitely needs an SSD because of the heat and vibration.
