It is pretty easy. Should not take you more than 5-10 minutes. Service manual has good documentation on the steps.

Yes. The 1st picture is wrong (picture of DDR2 SODIMM) but the specs are right.

Not a bad price for what you got but right now if I wanted an L13 equipped just like the base V13 model it would $739 vs $349 and the L13 only comes with 1GB of memory. No surprise that the L13 has slightly different configuration options as there would be no need to sell both the V13 and L13. ;)

I'm looking to buy the v13 with the su7300 core2duo because of its cheap price $370 shipped after tax.

I noticed that the cpu on this is the same cpu on M11x R1 which is the su7300 core2duo and on m11x, there is an option on the bios where you can overclock to 1.6ghz, is it able to oc on v13?

How is the battery life on this baby with 60-70% brightness and just web surfing w/o playing music or videos. Just straight up wifi on and surfing or office editing?

I know it is not going to play any games, but can it play hd videos at least?

I noticed that this is only the 32-bit, if i do upgrade to 4gb of ram, how much ram can i use out of it knowing the limitation of the 32-bit.

And how many memory slots are their in the v13? Does it come 1x2 1gb or single 2gb? Can the bottom cover of the v13 be removed to upgrade ram/hdd? Reason I'm asking is that one of the reviews says that the bottom cover doesn't have screws to access the back.

    Thanks

For the overclocking, you might be able to use SetFSB but you will need the PLL.

I have the Latitude 13 (same chassis as the Vostro V13), the battery life is okay, the same as an average consumer notebook (battery life is in my review in my signature).

I actually installed Day of Defeat Source, and on low/medium settings I can play games at native resolution. Yes 4500MHD will run HD video.

SU7300 supports 64 bit, so you can reinstall 64 bit Windows. I reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64 bit when I installed my SSD.

    V13/L13 have 1 DIMM slot which supports 1 x 4 GB.

Thanks Tsunade. About the heat or rattling issue, is this issue only happening with the 320gb 7200rpm drive? I'm not looking to purchase an ssd for this so i want to know if the issue is a the specific drive and some people here said using another 7200rpm drive 500gb solves the issue?

It may depend on which drive you get. Mine had a 5400 rpm Toshiba drive which was silent and did not rattle at all. People have had more complaints with the MomentusXT and the Scorpio Black, but personally I have never experience any excessive vibrations.

Sometimes firmware updates can fix excessive vibrations.

Again heat was never an issue for me. ULV Core 2 and IGP don't run very hot. ;)

Some else posted that their V13 has the Samsung 500GB 7200 RPM drive and theirs no vibration or heat. The V13 I sent back today had the 320GB 7200 rpm drive and it definitely puts out a ton of heat and has a fair amount of vibration.

Once my Dell refund clears I may buy another one with the 500GB drive. My other V13 came with the 250GB 5400 rpm drive and it puts out very little heat and no vibration.
