    haha thanks for that tip (i sorta knew that) but my question was about installing the SSD and the 4gb ram

    hah ok, sorry about that.

    well Rod got the ram part, to do the SSD, remove the 6 screws on the bottom and the 2 on the back. The bottom will slide off. then remove the 4 screws holding the hard drive in place and slide it out. Repeat to install.

    I forgot to mention, don't forget to remove the express card and sd card reader slot covers to remove the bottom panel.

    damm i didn't know creating an .iso file would be a struggle, i created one but the windows 7 usb/dvd download tool is not recognizing it

    got the .iso file, now i ran into another bump, my external usb hard drive will not work...has this happened to anyone?

    Finally received my v13 and loving it. One thing that I would like to change though is being able to control brightness, volume etc... without having to press the "fn" key along with the F5 button. Is there any way to change these settings. I went into the BIOS but for some reason on the vostro there is no option for this.

    Unfortunately no ! :(

    In the past Dell had their version of Media Center which allowed you to change things but I haven't seen the utility in the last several Vostro's. The only other way is to change it via software. You can adjust the volume via the volume icon in the system tray and the volume and brightness slider can be found in Power Options via Control Panel

    Control Panel --> Hardware and Sound --> Adjust commonly used mobility settings
