Really? I bought this primarily to run Visual Studio as my college doesnt have a lab assigned for upper-level classes..which doesnt make ANY sense!

How easy is it to upgrade Vista Basic to Vista Business? My college provides all the computer science majors with a free full-version copy. Do you just put the disk in and enter your key and it upgrades?

I have a 1500 and I'm really having problems with the D drive. I will use the drag to disc function to make a number of copies 300 meg of pictures for a x-mas gift. One time it will work great and then the next time it doesn't respond and freezes up. I end task and end up have to shut the computer of with the on/off button because it lock everthing up.

Right now as I'm type this, the computer is lagging because I just had to end task on the drag to disc, this time it ended without having to shut down.

Is anyone else having problems? I might be doing something wrong?

Any thought or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I did not have any issues at all with Visual Studio 2005. Of course, I bought my V1500 with XP Pro on it. I'm upgrading the RAM to 4GB next semester for VMWare. I am expecting to be running 20-30 virtual machines on it for networking classes.

You do realize anything greater than 3gb of ram on XP Pro is redundant right...?

32-bit operating systems can't see more than 3gb of RAM. You'd have to upgrade to Vista 64-bit to make use of 4gb of ram...

I dont have my Vostro just yet, but I have had experience with that software. I just ended up deleting it and installing Nero. If you can't obtain a copy of it, maybe reinstalling it would work for you? It worked on the Inspiron 1521 I tried it on.

The 1400 can now be bought with XP and they have all the needed XP drivers up on the support site!
