For apps that have messed up scaling, I have had good luck with this:

Find the program exe or shortcut.
    Right-click Properties
    Compatibility tab
There is an advanced scaling options button or something. (Posting from my phone so I can’t check wording)
Select the option to override scaling behavior and set the mode to “System”

This will make it so straight bitmap scaling for the app and should fix layout issues. If you are at 200% scaling then it will be like running the app in 1080p.

Did you test this ram kit ? I read on the 7740 review hosted in this forum that the owner tried to test several 3200MHz kits but all of them failed in memtest or other testing.

I am curious to see first of all if it is really compatible and second if the performance advantage from 2400-->3200 is noticeable for demanding apps.

I did not run any memtest initially, but I ran the intel mem test, when I went and undervolted just real quick by 0.1v

just went and did a quick memtest everything went fine 512mb x 12 (test ran past 100% almost 200%)
doing a 2048mb x 12 total 90% system mem, and its at about 25% (cpu 90-100% all cores) and its fine no errors, shut it down because I do not see a point to run it all the way

I'll have to give that a try, I did mess around with those areas and had no success then :(
maybe because it was at 250%?

It should work no matter what you have the scaling ratio set to. You'll just have less than 1080p working space if it is above 200%.

I'm on my PC now show I'll point to exactly where the option is (see attached).

Did you replace the RAM the device came with? Looks like the 8 GB RAM minimum config you can do is hidden in those slots which you cannot easily access.

Since my HyperX Impact 2666 MHz CL15 stopped my system from running, I hope that the Crucial 2666 Mhz CL19 I ordered will be more successful. Looks like Dell has issues if RAM has too tight timings.

yes their is no way to run 3200 with 2666 and expect to have 3200 speeds, plus that 2666 stock is like 20 or 22 CL, horrible, I went to 3200 at 20 CL effective total timing is far better because of the boost of mhz vs 2666 (also you might be right about really tight timings, they do have 3200 at 18, also I believe it has to have xmp profile), for what I do 16gb would have been plenty and IMO 80% of ppl too, IMO anything past 32 gb is overkill and demands very specific task apps to even remotely come and touch that

    Code:
    speed cas TRUE
    2666 15 11.25
    3200 18 11.25
    3200 20 12.5
    3200 22 13.75
    2666 19 14.25
    2666 20 15.00

As far as getting to the ram, yes going under the keyboard is a process, I personally do not like the bottom cover with this new style of snap-in, its just a matter before some of those tabs break and all those screws are not fine thread but course thread I believe, which will loosen and could cross thread if not done with care. What bothers me a lot is the lack of usb-A connections on 7xxx series, usbc/thunderbolt is great but their is so much room, I just do not get it

ppl who have dongles and multiple usb devices are pretty much forced to lug around a usb hub or get the dock, which takes away from the portability...

Well, that's interesting. I guess it might have worked if either

    i) I had updated the BIOS;
ii) I had removed the 8 GB RAM that came with the machine.

I was a bit too lazy to do either... Curious what the fundamental issue was.
