I've been working a little on my A8js, and after getting used to this LED screen it was hell on my eyes...much appreciated to come back to the m4400.

Not at the moment, I hear my processor clocks over 4GHz on air alone, but the case I'm buying does is liquid cooling ready (Antec 1200), so 2 years from now I won't need to update my processor if I dont want to. I can just overclock to 5.5GHz on water :D

Hi Can anybody pls help :)

i just bought an external soundcard, creative pciexpress. The sound improves dramatically, also on the internal speakers.. 1 major problem though

every 30secs to 1 minute the sound skips, sounds like a scratched cd. it works perfectly without the soundcard (with onboard)

it could be that i need to disable the onboard sound, but how do i do that, i cant find any reference in the bios?

read somewhere that the preocessor downclocks when not being used, going to half speed and that this change also could disturb audio? can this energy saving be swithced off?

thx for all the helpfull posts here... It is such a great computer, but sometimes it makes me despair ;/

My brand new hard drive crapped out on me three days ago, so Dell sent me a new one over night. I've been installing drivers and software for what seems like days. I didn't really pay much attention to order, so maybe I just got lucky, 'cause I haven't had any trouble.

It's a little odd (stupid) that they don't put the drivers in the order that you should install them on the driver disk. Also, I noticed that many of the drivers on the Dell site had gone through many revisions compared to what I had on my Driver disk, so I started using those instead, and now when my computer comes out of sleep, the fingerprint reader works no problem.

I guess that's the one good thing that came out of having to reinstall everything. Man there are a lot of drivers and programs.

Fair enough,I would never disagree with what you say about value and performance, but the abilty to have something reasonably powerful that can be thrown into a bag and taken somewhere "easily" is a premium I'm willing to pay.

It sound's like you should have built a powerful gaming desktop to begin with mate.

And I won't disagree with that. The M4400 is by far the only laptop I would ever buy if I had to choose right now. It's so good in many ways, and yet just the little things that are ruining it for a lot of people.

And yeah, it seems a gaming desktop is what I was originally going for and should've got. Now I'm resorting to eBay to sell it at hopefully the price I paid otherwise I'm screwed.

I'm getting a GTX 260 Black Edition, which is going to game on 1920x1200 and should destroy the FX 770M and not cause any heating problems.

Yeah thats it, ending price sucked tho =/ now I gotta debate whether to give it to the seller in another darn country (and he cant even get the warranty cause its in another country) or not give it to him and take a negative feedback =/ This sucks major ones, I didnt expect to be so low-balled when the retail is over $2000, but that's the beauty of eBay for ya...
