Well I am in my studio there is plenty of equipment here. I have everything running through a Panamax AC regenerator / power conditioner. So at least where its plugged in is ok but i'll have to see what else is in the room that could be causing interference. At least its good to know that this is probably an isolated problem. Thanks for the help fellas.

Make sure you disabled the ethernet connection in connections manager, not device manager.

I've been testing my GPU temps and I'm wondering if I should be concerned about this.

The temperature was 67 C. After less than 5 minutes of playing Need for Speed Undercover, the temperature rose 96 degrees. Sometimes it downclocks, sometimes it doesn't. I had A11 to start. I tried A03 and that seems to make no difference.

I've done AS5 and I can't tell that it is making a difference. I'm pretty sure I've done it right. At first I used too much, but I went back in a followed a better tutorial for application.

That seems a bit too hot. And the downclocking is a pain.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for the helpful remark. I should perhaps respond in a similar fashion to your cooling/temperature question, but I'll refrain from making needless replies.

Anyone else know a way to identify the screen manufacturer?

    TIA.

    ofelas,

I submitted that response from my phone and had written more than what came through. I only now see that it didn't all come through. Whenever I respond in forums on my blackberry while quoting another reply, it gives me problems.

Sorry - I wasn't trying to be smart.

The missing part of my message was along the lines of also wondering if there was an absolute way of knowing, and that I've been searching all over the place to find out and that I'd post my findings, if there were any.

Until this computer, I always thought hardware id was unique to a piece of hardware, and not sharable between different specs.

Hey baniels - it makes more sense now; as a fellow BlackBerry user, I have done that unwittingly on occasion as well; no offence taken!

96 is wayy hot...are you using HW monitor? One of the programs out there is supposed to be wrong on temps....what resolution/settings were you getting the game slowdowns? Where was your machine built? Apparently Ireland and Malaysia are using different screens, I wonder what else could be different?

I was using HW Monitor. Now that I'm using GPU-Z my temps are a little different. Clocking down at 98, until it reaches 82.

Well, the GPU is protecting itself....this machine runs very cool even during intensive gaming....just can't figure why some don't....have you called support and reported the high temps? Tell them to call me as I'm Gold Support and I'll tell them I can't MAKE my machine overheat! :D

EDIT: I've never used this machine OFF a notebook cooler...are you using one?
EDIT2: The hottest I've managed to get this GPU is 82C, and that was o/c'd by a fair amount, so I turned in down. I game daily when not working, usually several hours (yeah, need a life don't I?) :D

No - I'm not using a notebook cooler. And to answer the question I ignored before, I was running at both 1680x1050 (external monitor) as well as both native 1920x1200 and lower resolutions on the laptop screen.

I'm not sure where it was manufactured. I haven't taken the time to look or find out where to look. But I'm curious now, so I probably will.

I just had a chat with dell support. They are going to send a tech to install a new GPU. However, she could find no record of 770M overheating in M4400's in their knowledge base. Big surprise.
