Has anyone tested Dells Nvidia 770m driver vs others. Any details on which works best?

Gordon...I'm hearing ya, but you NEED to use a laptop cooler with all laptops these days...not just this one....get one! Mine is USB and goes in my bag with the m4400 in another pocket.

If you can't afford a cooler or want to travel light, at the very least wedge up the back of the computer to get some air flow under there. Just doing that will make a HUGE difference. Or... you can bring a tank of liquid nitrogen with you ;) (kidding)

    Cheers

If lifting the laptop did not make a difference, you definitely have to clean something inside. You should vacuum your fan. You may have some dust in there.

I get a 8 to 10 degree difference with it lifted. I actually started doing it after I read a test done on the net comparing different coolers and such. They said that lifting the laptop got you to at least 60% of the what a cooler with an active fan accomplished. I cannot verify this as I don't yet own a cooler.

I can even notice it on the keypad. When I sit the laptop flat it gets warm but when I angle it up to let air flow, it's nice and cool to the touch. (not when gaming, just when doing regular stuff)....

I must confess, tho, that I am undervolting the cpu and that makes it run about 10 degrees cooler anyway.

    Cheers

    Hey ,

this is probably a very silly question i'm asking but i need to know.
how do you put the pc card slot cover back in the one that just about the dvd drive?

There is the actually fake card and a sort of "stick" button that when you push the card comes out but i want both to be back in.

    thanks for any help

first you push the button back, then slide the dummy back in. Dummy only fits one-way though..if it won't slide in all the way (about 1/4" left) turn it around and it'll slide in ;)

I confirmed that they will be sending a guy out with a new mobo for my machine after I complained about the gpu heat/downclocking.

Does anyone know if there is a way for me to determine if it is refurbished?
