    Wait a second...
Does this mean that when Dell designed the M4400, during all the testing they thought the temperatures were lower than they have actually been?

well maybe they thought they were higher?

i told him my temps were high, and thats what he said. so i guess he meant that the actual temp is lower than what the bios was reporting

Hopefully the new Bios will be any good.
´Cause right now the fan on my M4400 seems to run from time to time no matter what the actual temps are (A09). The only Temp above the 40° line in office mode is caused by the GPU. But 47° isn´t a temperature where I expect the fan to run all the time, like it dose right now.

Anyway just checked for driver updates on dell.com and there seems to be a new driver for the Intel Wifi Cards. Hopefully this one will fix an issue with the Connection Manager (Dell ControllPoint).

After installing the Connection Manager the Intel drivers were removed and there was no way to get the Wifi-Card to work, or even being recognized again.
Nothing helped but reinstalling the OS (I am on WinXP32). I tried it several times, setting a recovery point before installing the Intel driver or Dell Connection Manager first, but ended up leaving Connection Manager uninstalled.

    Anybody else with similar problems?

    Greetings

    Katze

My new M4400 has arrived. They first mentioned December 31st but I got it almost 2 weeks earlier. Thanks Dell!

But I do feel I little strange with the RGB LED. The screen look amazing but the colors seem a bit strange. With the default settings in the NVidia Control Panel (50% brightness, 50% contrast, 50% gamma) the colors are way to bright. Grey gradients look weird and light brown and light yellow colors look more like grey.

I tried all kind of settings but I can't find any good settings. Some settings look OK on one website, but are ugly on another websites.

Any ideas on getting the display settings right?

    Same here...
First you can set the brightness of all colors to 40%...
but for the best result, you need to calibrate the screen!

had a bad experience with the dell technician that came over to replace my mobo.

suffice to say he was very rough, quite rude, and did not follow procedure resulting in some damage to the palmrest and my wireless card.

the dell workstation team on the phone are brilliant though. they agreed to replace the unit with a new one even though it was not purchased in the same country.

im really relieved. its my main machine and i felt like it had been violated lol.

fingers crossed the replacement works flawlessly.

Any ideas on how to do the calibration? I'm not in the graphics business so this is new to me. Can I use some software tool or do I have to download a ICC profile?

I used a Macbook Pro up to now and I loved the LED display. This display was the main reason I wanted to have the RGB LED on the M4400. But I'm a bit disappointed because I can't find the right settings.
