Were you cool and calm while the guy was working on it knowing that you were going to take it up with Dell support or were you freaking out?

It doesnt matter, if the system is f'ed up they have to replace it lol. Usually a combination of both works. Calm > freaking out til they agree > calm.

well the first thing that happened was he tried to take the motherboard out with all the cards and ram sticks still installed. i thought he was just trying to loosen something, but then he gave it a huge tug and i heard a creaking noise. as soon as that happened i couldnt be bothered anymore....i dint care what he did to the rest of the system because i would be demanding a replacement.

in every single service manual i've seen standard procedure is to remove all the cards and removable media etc......

he almost snapped the motherboard and wireless card.

he tried removing the LCD with two of the screws still in place....can you believe that??? two screws still in and he's pulling at the LCD for all he's worth.

when the computer tried to start up he kept getting black screen with artifacts....but after 10 attempts it started up. needless to say as soon as he left i called dell. he dint even put the parts back together properly, i cant close the display lid because the speaker grille isnt in. the really annoying this is the webcam dosent work anymore. and i use video over skype a lot. bah...gonna have to wait for my replacement

he arrived an hour late (and lied about his time of arrival on the service form and when reporting to DTS job completion)

he was in a big hurry, he was very rude..for example when he was working on a screw at the other side of the laptop i just ran my finger over the fan vent to remove some dust, and he snapped at me "let me do my job". i think he's forgetting who is the customer..

im not sure if reporting him to dell over the phone is enough. i think im going to write a letter of complaint as well.

for the amount of hassle this system has been, they better bloody well be giving me a chica as well!!! :p

afhstingray: that entire episode seems pretty lame (very)....good to hear Dell is doing the right thing and replacing the entire unit.

oh yea, another funny thing he did.....when it was giving the black screens with artifacts followed by a blue screen, the DVD drive was trashing.

he tells me that my hard drive is spoilt....and says can you hear that noise.

i said "dude, thats the DVD drive...."

    LOL
