    I have a 128GB Samsung - It's MLC.

Difference in price you mention is becausue one is MLC (cheaper) and one is SLC (not cheaper)

I got the drive off e-bay - was supposed to be new - but was obviously a pull - not sealed - IBM drivers and vista on it.

Be careful if you go the ebay route -- ask lots of questions. Even though they said it was "NEW" -- gotta be warned.

lol go figure, so far I have had mine for 3 days and love it! I also got back 400 bucks from the 15% coupon deal so the laptop actually ended up being only barley over 2,000.

lol, I've just played WoW for way too long. :)

And yeah, my M6400 is officially dead. Mainboard and something else is toast w/ jam.

Funny how two of the same model can be so different. First one was flawless, no dead pixels, no audio hum, and ran quiet.

The last one, before it died, had screen blemishes, an audible hum from the speakers and the fans spun up like crazy and the top, right speaker grill kept dislodging.

    Ah well.

OUCH, what a PIA. I love computers, til they pull something like that, then I curse them to hell & back, hate em. Have had my Covet for a month now, been flawless whole time (knock on wood)

Yeah same here really, only 1 Ally 80 Mage on Stonemaul (PvP), he was my big boy, then summer vacation & roadtrips got in the way so his once uber gear is now crapola, I think its rude you can't trade up or something, all that time invested for nuthin..

Man I dumped herbalism for inscription, with no herbing alts - I'm broke with no flowers... wotta nub /facedesk

At least being a fail mage still looks glorious with the E2E screen -- nice & vibrant eh?

This story makes the hair of my back do strange things! Imagine for example that your ONE machine was the faulty one... It creeps me out!

How can DELL quality control let premium flagship machines be delivered in such a status ?

Yeah, I couldn't survive without farming skills. On my mage, he's a classic herby/alchy and Hunter is miner/skinner.
I then use the money to fuel my Priest (tailor/enchanter) and Paladin (Inscriptions/Jewelcrafting).

Farming + laptop = something you can do while watching TV or a movie usually. :)

And yeah Permka, it was a lesson in QC. Both machines were new (non-refurbs), and the first one from December to January was flawless. I mean, just perfect.

When I had to sell that one and used the company issued Covet, it just had problems galore. I even redid the install after the clone just to make sure and the same problems. Playing games had a real wicked choppy issue I never had on my old one, and all the other issues to go along with it.

I can't fault Dell service and support, though. Tech was johnny on the spot and worked on it for quite some time before pronouncing it DOA. How it is set up with IT now is the unit now has to go back for a corporate credit and a new unit issued, but that may take a month depending on lead time and we don't do refurbs.

I'll sort it out one way or the other, but my forearms are already healing up from missing the nice sharp corners of the Covet digging into them when the pads would slip. :D

    Hello Everyone,
Has anyone found an alternative power supply other than the "Brick" that ships w/ the m6400. I was looking @ this one:
    http://us.kensington.com/html/13874.html
    .. will 120W work?
    any help would be great!
    Thx.

It might well be the correct voltage etc - but the Dell PSUs report to the lappy what wattage it is - and if the lappy can't detect the wattage it won't charge the battery.

FWIW - I now have a selection of PSUs for my M6400..the 210W that came with it (all is well...obviously), a Dell 90W PSU (the M6400 charges slowly and reportedly runs slower - but I couldn't notice any difference) and a 150W PSU off of eBay that was sold as "Dell compatible". It cost £30, and whilst it isn't a Dell PSU, the lappy recognises it and runs at full speed and charges the battery normally.
