If the manicguitarist is correct would http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Power/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=310-8537 work? It's a 150 watts adapter for XPS.

Is it really because m6400 has the 45 (or is it the 43) 'board' or some part in there that is for a desktop machine? And is that good, bad or of no matter? Somewhere in a comparasion of the 6400 and the HP 8730w, totally comparable with the 6400 but with mil.spec. case and a few other goodies, but using a 150w adapter and that was the stated reason for the biggest laptop power supply in history I think. And don't some of the Latitude models have a 150 watt supply? My m6300s is just 130 and from what I've read here that's about 20 short of adequate.

The M6400 is the true definition of a, "desktop replacement."

I think I said it before, but I can't see rolling up into Borders or Starbucks with one to sit and use in a casual, AC free environment.

But plug that puppy in? Oh mama. :)

I'm gonna miss my M6400 for the sheer brutality it put on World of Warcraft. :)

Thats good, but the problem is there, and seems to be caused by the OS/font.

I swapped panels and still saw the problem. I then reverted from the Dell install of Vista business 64 to XP32 and the problem went away.

Anyone else see my font/OS colour problem?

Could be the video driver and related settings - not the operating system.

I am running Vista 64 - and I don't have the issues you describe.

It has been a while since I last logged in. It is good to see so many new pages of content. I am glad to hear that most of the issues that people have encountered are resolved.

I ran into a motherboard issue with my Covet and just got a replacement. I don't seem to have any issues with font or OS color. I have tried running both XP64 and Vista Business 64. Both OS seemed fine to me.

I do have one question about the display though. Both of the Covets seem to have variations in brightness. Has anyone else encountered similar issues? In my cases, both displays leak a lot more light along the bottom edge. In one case, the bottom two corners are much brighter, whereas in the other, the middle of the bottom edge area is much brighter.

I would hope that is not normal, is it?

For my system the screen has uniform intensity.

However the entire screen intensity will uniformly change (oscillate) when the Ambient Light Sensor is ON.
No problems when it is OFF.
