Is anybody running any 7200rpm hard disk drives in their M6400 using RAID 0? If so, do you think you could run ATTO on them and report back? I have two Patriot Warp 64GB SSD in RAID 0 but I don't think the 128GB is going to suffice and I'd like to find out how much of a performance hit I'd have.

    Thanks!

Which ATTO numbers and which OS would you like like to compare?
Also, Can you post your numbers for the Warp drives?

A screenshot would be awesome, but I know that isn't always easy. I'll post mine in a bit. If you can't do a screenshot, can you get me an min/avg/max? Vista 64 would be awesome, but I don't care too much.

    I'll try Vista 64 when I get a chance. From XP-64:

[Deleted - Data was from older version of ATTO]

This is Vista 64 after a reboot and letting the computer sit for about five minutes:

OMG! Looking at your benches, I think I'll try to stick with what I've got until the price comes down on the bigger SSD. What drives are you running just out of curiousity? Thanks for the help too!

edit2: I noticed my "Total Length" is different than your's, maybe that makes a difference?

Oops. Total length was different. Turned out to be an old version. Here new data from Ver 2.34 on X64 and V64. These are a little better.

Drives are WD 320GB Scorpio Black 7200 RPM with free fall sensor.

    Here is my atto test.

Raid 0, dual 7200. Both WD Scorpio Black with freefall sensor (one is 320Gb and the other 250Gb), running on Vista 64bit.

(Other tasks were running in background - Outlook, this website an RDP session and an RSS reader)

Bah. Well, I memtest87'ed the machine last night, got through 10 passes of all 8gb, no errors. So I set up a little file copy benchmark to copy 61G worth of data back and forth, and it failed about 30g in. I lose network connectivity, get the annoying little caution symbol on the network, and cannot get it back on the network, even if I reset the router and adapters in the network panel. Anyone have any ideas? I already called Dell, I think this problem is new with the new motherboard. It burns me because I had only a video card issue before, and I asked them to only replace the vid card. They replaced the MB anyhow, and I'll bet I got someone else's problem!

My test was run on two different networks, I have rolled back to dell approved video drivers, disabled the creative webcam, installed a02 bios. Bah. Buyer beware!

    Hi guys.

Quick question:- My numpad doesn't seem to work on my vista 64 install. Hitting the numlock button makes no difference. Is there some setting I'm missing?

EDIT: reseated the keyboard, restarted vista, and all is well again
