    Hi Rob,

You mean using Cleartype cvs standard? I tried that but didn't see much difference. I'm actually wondering whether the OS was applying the settings

    not accurate
The 2ccfl screen is only available for the M4400! The M6400 WUXGA screen has a brightness of 260nit with 50% of the adobe gamut an a contrast ratio of 400:1. The rgb-led WUXGA screen has 400nit, 100% adobe gamut and a contrast ration of 500:1. --> 3 times better

(3 times better because auf the 3 different LED colors was a joke btw  I just wanted to point out that you can't really says better, worse... it just depends on what you need)

Some have minor issues, but most M6400 run flawless.

Ok so the normal WUXGA RGB LED is overall better then the normal WUXGA screen for the M6400. I have 2 units now with one having the LED and on without. Trying to figure out which one to keep. Also is there any good screen calibration software??

Yep, that's what I mean... on my machine it's noticable. But you might be right in that it's not doing it for some reason.

There is no such thing, IMHO. If you need accurate screen colors, you need a hardware sensor plus software. I am satisfied with the Spyder products, but maybe somebody else can recommend others.

On the subject of screens, nits and such, I'd be interested in finding a person who's seen the high end screens on the m6400, the hp8730 and the w700 Think Pad from Lenovo. They all claim to be the best but that's sort of impossible but unless you've seen all three I can't see how to judge them. Anybody work in a computer test center or something?

A second question sort of....Reading all these posts about getting discounts from Dell, that's what I'm trying and so far it's just a hassle. They come up with a 550 dollar 'discount' it turns out anybody that's ordering that day gets, then when I tell them I can get a 8730 fitted out like the Dell with a 20% coupon they say they'll meet that price if I just send them the order and price quote. Which I did and would bring the price of the Dell down an additional $600. She writes back that her boss says my HP order doesn't include 'complete care' coverage and I write back with highlighted excerpts from the original order showing that I did get HPs version of 'complete care' so she says OK, wait. That was three days ago, a 20 + 10% deal on a w700 Think Pad just expired last midnight and I'm getting pissed. Does someone have a NAME to talk to at Dell where everyone else seems to get such deals, cause my luck and patience are both running low.
