The silver one is also available in edge to edge glass display. Everyone has their own tastes but the edge to edge is very fine for me. And easier to keep clean. I don't know what they send you if you don't pick a different display than whatever is the 'standard' one. Except for upgrades as standard equipment and the orange case there is no difference (in the U.S. anyway) between the orange and silver. I used to prefer the matte screen but it turns out only because I'd never had anything else. Now I'm an edge 2 edge fan.

well, i have to say, despite all the negative comments about dell, i've always been quite pleased with dell small business department...

just called and they agreed to change my screen to E2E WUXGA with the webcam and still honored the 30% coupon since i've confirmed an order yesterday...

now to figure out a story for the wife... lol!

Question for you M6400 guys - are you able to change the graphics card from the fx2700 to the FX3700 later on?

Since you don't identify yourself as one of us "M6400 guys" I'll take a leap and suppose you don't have one. If you're thinking of getting one why not get the 3700 card if you're already thinking about changing the 2700 before you even have one. I'm not expert enough to guarantee it but I think yes. From my forays into the guts of my Covet, the CPU looks replaceble if you have a mind too.

Looking at buying one - funds are limited right now and I don't need the graphics horsepower right now, but in a year or so I might need the power the FX3700 has. I was just curious if it was the mxm II slot and user-upgradable. Same deal with the processor which I assumed could be changed easily on my own.

You have any pictures of the internals of your covet?

Maybe you already know all about this and I'm the last to find out but I got a new Covet totally maxed out with the QX9300 and two 320GB drives along with all the high end graphics and edge 2 edge screen that come standard with the Covet and priced out at close to $5800 on the retail page but I paid 2200 bucks including tax with a 20% coupon from the Outlet store. It says it's 'refurbished' but inside and out looks brand new to me. Turns out most everyone I know has always bought their Dells that way and I doubt I'll ever go back to just adding up the retail price and typing in my CC number.

I have no pics nor plans to open it anytime soon but hopefully this includes screen shots from the service manual that might help. It's a nice clean layout to my standards. Cool running (Zalman 2000 pad under it), great build quality and flawless in operation, unlike lots of folks that had problems early on. They seem to have ironed themselves out if you judge by the progression of comments here. If you're 'budget constrained' my advice would be buy from the Outlet and make sure to get the RGB edge 2 edge display and the 3700FX card. It'll cost you less than the base model on the retail page and you can get complete care with it, tho some come with that even. Outstanding machine. If you can wait on an Outlet coupon, I've seen them up to 30% but 20 was still the most bang for the buck computer buy I've ever made. I was in love with my M6300 until this one blew me off my chair.

Thats an awesome price to pay for such a high-end machine. I didn't realize that you could use the coupon codes in the outlet store.

If thats what you ended up paying for that rig I'm sure I could find myself one, where did you find the outlet store coupons?

YES - the bumpers between the screen & keyboard -- and I think it is because my palm sits on it on the left side.
