ok i think i have a missing item in my laptop. My second hard drive arrived today and i tried installing it into the bay but the only supplied item was the four screws. I was not given an interposer(what connects the hard drive to the motherboard).

I was wondering if this item was available to those who have received their laptop.(is it located somewhere else? because the foam that housed the 4 screws to be used on the second hard drive had an empty slot which i believe is where the interposer was meant to be placed). Can anyone please confirm this.

Yeah, its supposed to be in the foam. I just installed my 2nd drive today.

By the way, if any of you have a frys by you, they are having a sale on a toshiba 320gb drive for $109.00. Works perfectly with the m6400. Loving this laptop so far.

    M6400 owners.

I'd be very interested to know your thoughts on your system. I'm thinking of a config that would handle video editing and computational modeling (quad core, 8GB, 7200rpm) but my concern is heat/fan noise/battery life.

Also, how well do the NVIDIA Quadro FX energy saving features work when doing non-intensive things (email, internet, Word)? Battery life?

Does the edge of the M6400 cause any discomfort after extended mouse pad use?

    Any other pros/cons.

Trying to decide between M4400 (tired eyes) and M6400(tired arms) !

and also avoid heat burns and early deafness

    :)

    Thanks.

PS. Anyone have an estimate on street price/availability on 500GB 7200rpm HD's? Two of these with RAID 0 should take care of business!

Any comments on 2/4GB turbo memory as an option.
Does the M6400 hardware RAID include cache? How much?

let us know how you get on with getting an interposer sent out to you please.

It may prove usefull to those of us who get our systems with it missing to.

Hi guys, I've a question here. It seems like M6400 doesn't come with DVI or HDMI port. Am I right? Would vga port enough to support any HD flat Planet like gateways FHD2400 or Dell 24 Ultrasharp 2408?

    Thank you.

it has a "display port" which is used to output to a variety of monitors.. 30@ etc.. but needs a cable from dell... all laptops are moving this way i think..

From my rep I was told Ultimate x64 does not work with two hd's without RAID. The configuration online will not let you do this either.

Then he said RAID 0 does not work with x64!?

Can anyone with a system in hand with a config like this prove this wrong?

    I hope hope so.
    Thanks,

This is for the M6400 Covet.
