I agree its fast as hell - I love the m6400 as well. My probs have been very minor and Dell is taking care of them - I've been using the m6400 solid for several days now and am thrilled with it.

FredericBell: The M6400 does support 30" monitors. The 3008 models can be run directly from the Display Port. The 3007 model requires the Display Port to Dual Link DVI dongle adapter. Unfortunately this cable will not be available until the Dec - Jan time frame. The DVI ports on the dock are single link not dual link DVI ports so a dongle plugged into the Display Ports is required.

This makes snese - if you use display port it should work.
I am starting to understand the issue better - it is a general issue between display port and dual link DVI (for single link it is not an issue becuase dongle exist that are pretty cheap).
I think this is going to be a major issue for all manaufacturer in the next few years - because many monitor exist today that do not accept display port and require dual link DVI (true for all large monitor with resolution above 1920 * 1200).
I guess I should have known that.

Make sure you check before your monitor does not reuqire a dual link DVI before you buy this laptop - as I said otherwsie the laptop is pretty good. All the issues are not deal breaker for me. It has real issues though - but I could leave with it too if I could drive my monitor.

    Mano_G@Dell:

Will Dell have this display port to dual ink DVI cable in Dec or Jan?
How much will it cost? Apple does one for mini DisplayPort and it is 100$.
How can I be sure that it will work - I am asking becuase if it does not then I am screwed and I will not be able to return the laptop anylonger.

Thank you for the info about the dock as well - it is good to know this sort of things.

I spent nearly two hours on the phone with dell support tonight. I bought this laptop specifically to showcase some of our software at a tradeshow in 2 weeks. I chose to give this one more try and have new parts delivered on Monday.

There is no questioning the performance of this thing. It's amazing! I'm a developer and there is a particular task that I run that would take 10-15 seconds on my M6300 (ASP.NET app load after IIS restart or compile). The M6400 can do this in less than 2 seconds.

If anything is bent, scratched or broken after the tech leaves on Monday, then it is going back.

Wow, that IS amazing! How long does it take to load up a web project in VS.NET after a reboot? That takes close to a minute on my 9300.
