    The model number of the Samsung drive listed in the referenced link is MCBQE64GBMPP and the current Samsung SSD Drive is MCC0E64G5MPP. Here are the performance numbers for each model:

    MCBQE64GBMPP = SATA-1 150Mbps 40Mbps Write speed & 60Mbps Read speed

    MCC0E64G5MPP = SATA-2 300Mbps 80Mbps Write speed & 100Mbps Read Speed

    I'm sure hoping my M6400 ships with the MCC0E64G5MPP's otherwise they will be going back. Here is a really good article about SSD drives that everyone trying to decide whether to buy one should read:

    (wwwDOTanandtechDOTcom/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3403)

    And here are some benchmarks someone did with Samsung SSD's in various RAID configurations using the MCBQE32G5MPP's drives which are the 32GB version of the MCC0E64G5MPP's:

    Wow, what an eye opener! I definitely had the crappy SSD version with the slow write performance. I would sure like to hear back from you when you receive your unit with the SSD drives to see if they give you the nice Intel X25M drives. I think the X25-E (Extreme) would be the best solution, but I would have to purchase two of them because they are only 64GB, and they are surely going to cost around $1200 EACH when they come out, and that would be rediculously expensive.

    Actually, I just checked Dell's website for the M6400 Covet, and the SSD hard drive option they offer is called "64GB Solid State Drive, Hi-Performance [add $554]". Therefore, since it is only a 64GB capacity and not an 80GB, I can only assume that this is NOT one of the nice Intel X25-M drives. Who knows what they are putting in there?

    I'm hoping it comes with the Samsung MCC0E64G5MPP's as they have better random write performance then the Intel X25-M's which I need for Hyper-V.
    The MCC0E64G5MPP's actually do very well in the application benchmarks which is where the rubber meets the road. I just hope my system doesn't get placed on "indefinite backorder".

    Is it a Covet, or did you get charged for the camera? If so, I'd return it for a replacement. You could get a refund, but then you'll have to carry along a webcam with you when you're mobile, along with that power brick.

    Unless the camera wasn't really that important anyway. Then just go for the refund, or negotiate a really good external camera as a compensation.

    The article you linked me includes this Samsung SLC drive, and it is much better than the earlier Samsung MLC drives, but why wouldn't you want to get Intel X25-M instead? I'm confused by what you said above about the Samsung MCC0E64G5MPP's having better random write performance then the Intel X25-M, because that's not what the chart in the article seems to indicate:
    4KB, 100% random writes, IO queue depth 1 IOs per Second MB/s Average Write Latency Max Write Latency
    OCZ Core (JMicron, MLC) 4.06 0.016MB/s 244ms 991ms
    OCZ (Samsung, SLC) 109 0.43MB/s 9.17ms 83.2ms
    Intel X25-M (Intel, MLC) 11171 43.6MB/s 0.089ms 94.2ms
    Seagate Momentus 7200.2 106.9 0.42MB/s 9.4ms 76.5ms

    Am I missing something? The Samsung SLC is showing 9.17ms of latency and only 0.43MB/s throughput on writes, and the X25-M is showing only 0.089ms of latency and a huge 43.6MB/s throughput!
