Thought I'd join after lurking for a while!
My delivery date is 5 Dec.

Spec is QX9300, 4Gb RAM (I'm putting another 4GB in myself - cheaper from Crucial), 320GB 7200 Hard-disk (I'm putting another in myself - again cheaper from elsewhere!), Vista 64, 1900x1200, FX2700, no cam, no fingerprint scanner but with an advanced docking station (so I can connect 2 monitors to it)

So - I have all the accessories - my case (Crumpler Darkside) arrived today, my extra memory arrived yesterday - my extra hard disk (WD 320Gb Scorpio Black with free-fall sensor) is arriving on Monday - now all I need is the actual M6400!

I'm going RAID0 because *all* my documents are automagically mirrored to my server as I change them and all the source code I work on is kept in source safe on the server - so at the worst I might lose a morning's source code changes is something went awol. All this mirroring has the added benefit that I can re-image my machine every month or so. (When I get a new PC I install and configure all the software that I will use, then use Acronis to take an image of it).

My current lappy is a Lattitude D820 and my workstation is a quad core P380 - the M6400 will be replacing them both.

My D820 has the WWLAN card in it - and, looking at the service manuals for the D820 and the M6400 I should be able to transfer it - I'll let you know.

    M

Mine is suppose to ship today but it's gone from the build stage to the testing stage and back twice now and is now sitting in testing since yesterday.

Urk! That doesn't sound good. At least it'll have been fully tested when they do ship it mind you.

Another quick request: Anyone in the UK who got a decent Covet deal please PM me. I'm interested to see how far Dell are willing to go in terms of price. Cheers! :)

you'd better get on to dell and ask them to send you out a 0J501F kit,as they arn't fitting the second drive bay with a interposer board, even though they say they do, as does the service manual!

let us know how you get on with that, i emailed them a week ago asking for one......no responce so far

Does anyone else have BSD's with these MS updates for Vista?
    KB955020
    KB959130
After the updates the M6400 has the BSD. Boot in Safe Mode, uninstall update, reboot fine.

Also has anyone noted the different USB icons? There is the obvious ESATA combo. he one above it has a different icon than the others. I think this means more power to this USB. The others though, including the ESATA/USB have a non-standard icon. I notice it has a plus as well. Any clues? The manual does not specify AFAIK the difference.

My machine has been showing as in the delivery stage since yesterday midday which is slightly odd. Every other of my Dell machines has had a Walsh western tracking number appear within a few hours of going into the delivery stage, but this one hasn'tafter 30 odd hours. Hopefully it hasn't been recalled!!! :)

There never will be a battery slice.

He is looking into availability of modular battery bay.
Also looking into why Vista Ultimate 64-bit with no RAID does NOT allow 2HD online configuration.

Rep confirms that he cannot override the dual HD issue (Vista Ultimate 64-bit with no RAID does NOT allow 2HD configuration).

He was not able to confirm either way about blue-ray DVD or Turbo Memory availability.

Too many delays. I'm going with single HD.
